This is a great place to sit on the front in a sheltered location, enjoy a drink or an ice cream and watch live entertainment.

It can be windy in Herne Bay but go into the bandstand and have a cup of tea and an icecream. There is often live music being played and a view of the sea to complete the lovely place

The former bandstand has been taken over by an Indian restaurant and an ice-cream parlour, both with terraces, but without a view of the sea. When we visited there was no band or performance. But still a nice structure on the promenade, and very near the sea. We had hoped to buy an ice-cream here, but it was closed before we had a change.

Not only "people watching" but the local cafe also sponsor a range of musicians to come and play either outside the cafe or on the bandstand stage. Last weekend we saw a great Elton John tribute act who worked his way through most of the accumulated repertoire. The seating in the bandstand is free and consists of rather splendid canvas 'director's chairs' that are comfortable to sit in for quite a while! Also included in this little area is a fantastic Indian restaurant , multiple free toilets and the aforementioned MacKaries cafe [which does a delicious coffee (either inside or out in the uncovered bandstand courtyard)]

A wonderful area, at the time we visited nothing was happening but you could imagine sitting there on a Sunny afternoon listening to bands and singers. Well maintained, as most areas we visited here were, we would definitely go back there if in the area and entertainment was on.

A lovely reminder of childhood and times gone by.
