“A GEM WITHIN A GEM”
Reviewed 11 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

A really lovely place to stay and Chill. Well maintained, comfortable beds, spacious rooms
and within easy reach of the beach, about 1 minute! The Kitchen has got everything, although with so many decent places to dine in Dea,l at reasonable prices, you do not really need it.
Up to date SKY Channels and wireless, comfortable lounge and a small patio area at the back which is a Sun trap and more than suitable for having a slurp in the evening.
Communication with the owner Mark Benson is excellent, he lives minutes away.
Deal is a town that time forgot, wonderful seafront walking, a fabulous historic district and good shops. Take a walk to Walmer Castle along the coastal path and follow in the footsteps of Victoria, Albert and the kids, The Duke of Wellington, Charles Dickens, W.H Smith and many other historical figures. Deal has a fascinating history, the beach where hundreds died of fever after returning from the Peninsula wars to the threat of invasion in WW2. You name it Deal has seen it, even way back to the Romans. You cannot be bored in Deal. If you are, the French towns of Le Touquet and Boulogne are only a cheap day return trip away on the Channel Tunnel. Mark Benson is obviously good at most things he does. from a brilliant Kent Batsman, Umpire and now cottage management. Do not miss a stay here, you will love it..

“Wonderful short break”
Reviewed 29 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Beautifully presented property. Caring, helpful owners. Well positioned for delightful walks along the seafront to Kingsdown ( lovely pub where you can eat on the beach). Easy flat walk into Deal with interesting independent shops. We parked the car when we arrived & didn't use it til we left as so much within easy reach. Can't wait to go back.

“Perfect Weekend Break”
Reviewed 20 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

From start to finish a perfect break in a perfect cottage. Mark made us feel very welcome, showed us around the cottage and advised us how everything worked. Our dog, Pebbles, made herself at home straight away! Cottage is very well equipped - from tea/coffee & milk to soap and toileteries in the bathroom, to kitchen utensils etc. Then the icing on the cake; or rather the cake itself- a delicious Victoria sponge in the fridge from Sarah (well that was the diet out of the window - we couldn't resist it). Had a good night's sleep in the cosy front bedroom, which had a delightful sea view. There is enough clothes storage for a holiday of a week or 2. The location was perfect:- 1 minute to the bakers for fresh bread for breakfast and to the newsagents/convenience shop, & 2 minutes to the beach with a promenade / cycle path / green that went on for miles. We were lucky enough with the weather to make good use of this walk. Fantastic fish and chips at the Blue Mermaid, near Deal Pier, and a wonderful meal at the Kings Head - very cosy inside away from the stormy weather that had blown in on the Sunday night. The cottage was also ideally located for St Margarets Bay, Dover and Broadstairs, which we enjoyed visiting. Everywhere we went to was very dog friendly, but I would also add that the cottage and resort would be ideal for a family with children; there is so much to explore in the area. Before booking, we looked at many cottages in the Deal area and did a lot of homework, which paid off as Lifeboat Cottage lived up to previous reviews and more. Thank you Mark and Sarah for having this lovely home. We look forward to staying at your Broadstairs apartment once it is ready to let. We also hope to return to Lifeboat Cottage again in the not too distant future.
