“Perfect Venue For Large Family Gathering”
Reviewed 24 September 2013 for a stay in August 2013

The annual Morley / Paskin / Rees / Tunbridge gathering this year moved to centre of the UK on the Welsh border near Leominster, in Herefordshire. Being veterans of booking holiday homes (France / Whitby / New Forrest / Derbyshire in recent years) we come with high expectations. Owl Bard did not disappoint in the slightest.

We were a party of 12. 6 kids under the age of 13 (from 1 - 13) and 6 adults including Grandparents - and the property was easily big enough to cope with a group of this size with enough beds - and perhaps more importantly plenty of living space. Key with so many little people.

The Barn is off the beaten track, frankly in the middle of no where. But this adds to the charm. At night it is silent. And you have loads of lovely country side and walks on your door step. We got all of our food delivered from Tesco who visit there – worked a treat.

The owners were lovely. Offered good advice. Where there when you needed them, but unobtrusive despite living over the lane. They had 2 lovely dogs that would visit - and were available for adoption if you wanted to walk them,

The barn itself is vast, and as I said very open planned with loads of room. It is very well equipped and modern. A vast kitchen that made catering for 12 a delight. The garden is massive - and the highlight for the 6 kids with the hot tub. It entertained them for hours.

Whilst in the middle of nowhere - ideally positioned for days out to local towns we went to Ludlow / Ledbury and there are plenty of National Trust places as well as outdoor venues to visit. You won’t be bored.

All in all a lovely break that the whole family enjoyed. Would highly recommended. If I was to give 2 tips (and they are small and minor) – some kind of way of getting broadband would be great and secondly some sharp knifes in the kitchen….. but then again I am slightly obsessive on the later topic !

“Amazing”

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at owl barn, we went as a family for 60th birthday and would highly recommend to anyone. The house was outstanding and catered for babies to grandparents! We visited west midlands safari which was about an hour away and was enjoyable day out however the children preferred the garden for cricket and picking blackberries on the walk! The owners were lovely and most helpful and we are already planning our next visit! Thanks for a stress free relaxing holiday x

“Get away from it all and relax!”
Reviewed 4 May 2013 for a stay in April 2013

Booked via email with owners. The Owl Barn is exactly as described, spacious, comfortable, peaceful, well furnished and equipped.
This was the prefect weekend location for a family birthday celebration for three generations and we all loved it. The bedrooms and en-suite bath and shower rooms are comfortable. The kitchen comes very well equipped with a welcome basket of foodstuffs and milk in the fridge is much appreciated. We used Sainsburys online order and delivery, which worked perfectly.
We visited Ludlow, well worth it, and had a local walk with the owners' two springer spaniels and their son Ed. We all enjoyed the hot tub and lawn games in the garden.
The two grandchildren loved the glass floor/ceilings and their own wet room.

“An amazing and luxurious barn conversion with all mod cons, ideal for a group family holiday.”
Reviewed 7 January 2013 for a stay in December 2012

We stayed at Owl Barn over the New Year with two other families. When we arrived we were delighted with the spaciousness of the downstairs area, which we had not expected from the photo's we had seen on the website - it is huge! There was so much room for the children to play together that my friend went and bought some elastic to play the old elastic crossing/jumping game. There are also loads of board games in a big chest on the second floor and our children loved learning and mastering Junior Monopoly.
The outdoor area is also very spacious and we organised some games of rounders for all, which was great fun - as well as hot-tubs and fireworks on New Year's eve. The kitchen area, with oasis is really well designed to co-cook, chew and chat, over a glass or four which meant no-one was stuck in there cooking alone, as it is part of the downstairs main living area.
The bedrooms, which are thankfully all en-suite are tastefully decorated and very comfortable with ample room for clothes and other gear. Our children loved the place for playing hide and seek with lots of interesting nooks and crannies, so they didn't bore themselves playing it all week.
There are loads of great walks in the area, we walked to the Kings Head which serves real ales and we had some excellent curries delivered from a local restaurant when we fancied a night off from the cooking. We also drove to some lovely places and enjoyed more walks and pub lunches. We would definitely come back and stay again as it is a great find to know of such a wonderful place so ideal for family groups and large parties, and also so well designed and comfortable. If you want to stay here, make sure you book early as I'm giving Martin and Becky's contact details to all of our friends!!
