“compact cottage in delightful location, for Christmas”
Reviewed 2 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

An old fashioned little terraced cottge up a narrow rural lane on the edge of Emsworth. Very pretty. It is very compact inside, with a very narrow staircase to the 2 bedrooms. The bathroom/loo is through the kitchen in what seems to be a later extension. Once the heating was on it was very cosy. The kitchen has all the basics for simple self catering, though not a lot of storage room. We were a bit surprised that the beds were not made up on arrival, though the living area had been decorated nicely for Christmas. No TV or internet. If you are looking for a simple, old fashioned and quiet getaway, with great country and seaside walks and a lively well equipped village, this is ideal!

“The cottage is in a great location for Portsmouth and Chichester but lacked attention to detail”
Reviewed 5 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We chose this cottage for its location - easy access to Portsmouth but with good transport links along the south coast. The cottage is comfortable with a bonus of having a clean bathroom with a good shower and plenty of hot water. However there were a few things which we didn't like. Firstly it had been used by smokers and the smell still lingered. We found there were insufficient cooking pans (one larger saucepan and one tiny one) and there was no microwave. The fridge freezer contained food left by previous occupants. We had to make our own beds and although the upstairs beds were fine the sofa bed was a little uncomfortable (perhaps this should be expected). Parking was on street although we did find a space close by and no-one seemed to mind us using it. The cottage is on a very quiet no through road but there is noise from the nearby train line and main roads. Emsworth has plenty of shops and is well placed for public transport but did not seem very friendly. There is lots to do in the area and plenty of places to walk the dogs including the nature reserve behind the cottage.

“nice cottage, nice aera”
Reviewed 10 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

the cottage is nice, Emsworth is nice too. Portsmouth is a beautiful town with long marin history. But previous lodger weren't serious considering the dirtiness of dishes. We spent a good week end in England. Lean is thoughtful.
