Well what a find!
We are not strangers to staying in a yurt but this location was so special and unique.
Drake yurt is nestled away on on private peninsular within Emsworth Marina. Its the last of the run of the three yurts which gives that extra bit of privacy with no one passing by.
The weather was beautiful and the sunsets were amazing over the marina.
Ample space for myself, husband and 8yr old son. A three night stay was a perfect tonic. The beds were comfortable, and Andre and Kim were accommodating with changing the bedding from feather due to allergies.
We didn't use the No.1's toilet within the site, but the marina onsite bathroom facilities are clean and close to the yurts. Two electric showers and two toilets in both the gents and ladies.
We ate at the Deck for breakfast and lunch, lovely food and friendly service, and had fish & chips at The Blue Bell which was very tasty.
Our main reason for our holiday was to visit the Historic Portsmouth Dockyards to see HMS Queen Elizabeth, HMS Victory, Mary Rose etc. We caught the train from Emsworth to Portsmouth Harbour which was so easy and straightforward, we even managed to get a car parking spot at the the railway station in Emsworth (they have 6 free parking spaces). We even went for a second visit on our last day to see what we couldn't fit in (tickets enable you to visit multiple times within 12 months).
During our stay we also went for some lovely local walks and had headed over to Hayling Island to go on the short narrow gauge railway running through the dunes behind Hayling Beach & and went on a few rides at Fun Land.
Only negative was the mosquitos at the marina seem to enjoy feasting on me, so if you're prone to being bitten be prepared with preventative measures and soothing antihistamine cream!
We had a very tearful son leaving the yurt this morning and now wants to live in Emsworth when he grows up!
Thank you Andre & Kim, see you next year! x
We stayed for 2 nights and really enjoyed our escape.
Andre and Kim have the attention to details, from the decoration to the kitchen equipment, everything we needed to be self catering was there.
Beautiful view, clean, comfy, fits 2 adults and 2 teens of 15 and 17 nicely. We didn't use the BBQ but there was a possibility to do so.
The location is great, very near beautiful walks, opportunities to swim and take a short walk to the small town.
Highly recommended experience!
Stayed there over the weekend with my husband and 8 year old son. The yurt is set on a small peninsular near the marina, but is quiet and private. There are only 2 other yurts nearby. It was very well provided for with heaters (and electric blankets!), crockery, radio etc. The bed was comfy and the sofa pulled out for a perfect bed for our son. We took a little bbq (they do provide a charcoal one but we are lazy and like gas!) and relaxed. Slept like logs and our only problem was that we had only booked one night! It is still like camping (e.g. toilets and showers are a small walk away, and dish washing needs to be done in a basin), but this doesn't detract from the overall experience.
