I reviewed blackwater boats in 2015, we have been on two trips this year and the second one on a different section of the river is just as interesting, pleasurable and a real bonding with the river. Ron our captain again a genial well Informed host and navigator. Haybridge basin just so special nice picnic areas pubs and cafe. Ice cream parlour too.

As no one else seems to have reviewed this enjoyable boat ride I have to herald joy of this trip and recommend it to anyone who enjoys peace and a relaxing day out.

We arrived at 10·30 for an 11 o'clock sailing there are several locks on the river system. Ron, our captain welcomed us aboard and gave us safety instruction we set sail a party of 12 the Blackwater Dawn only has room for twelve but is adequate a lounge, toilet disabled friendly and gally, helm to the rear. the trip navigates through the locks with the help of the able bodied to assist in opening and closing the locks (real fun) down river at a leisurely pace and normally would make paper mill lock for a picnic or stroll. Then returrn back up river. We had the pleasure of going up river also to the springfield basin a really lovely cruise enjoyed by all . Ron has local knowledge of the area and places of interest as the voyage continues. We took refreshment and food along with us and tea and coffee was available on board. This trip is reasonably prices, there are other options and a lot of regular organised events .we will be doing this again because it's a fabulous experience, wildlife all the way , people walking the tow path opening and closing the locks and having a try at steering the boat all part of the trip. Can't rate it higher than fantastic peaceful relaxing wonderful . Up to twelve a maximum makes a really cosy trip lots of fun.
