Originally started to cover the founding years of Qantas while in Longreach, the QFOM has now added additional exhibits and the amazingly interesting air park. We did the 747 wing walk which was really good as it also included time in the cockpit. We then returned for the Luminescence show in the evening which was good as well - all worth seeing. Estimate 2 hours for the museum plus the 75 minutes on the 747 tour. There is an excellent film about the return of 707 from UK to Australia.

If you are an Australian that loves planes and our unique air history this is a must do.
Seeing a Super Constellation and a very special 707 made it for me.
friendly staff and a terrific tour guide who handled herself well beyond her years (Skye) enhanced it. She was knowledgeable and handled kids and us older kids with easy lay back style.
my 3rd time there (just love planes and have relatives locally) and better all the time.
Thanks QFM

We attended the Luminescent night show first which was a 20-25min evening show projected mostly onto a 747 and covered much of the key history points - came away very impressed.
The next day joined a park tour which was guided and took us through or next to 4 aircraft. A 90 min tour but could have stayed longer to read some of the information on the aircraft. This time may have been available on the premium tour. Book in advance online to ensure you get the time/day the fits.
Highly recommended while looking around Longreach.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and made our visit. The museum is well stocked and presented and enjoyed my hand in the simulator and the movie in the original QANTAS hangar. The additional tour of the aircraft was very informative and also enjoyed the 'wing walk' experience on the 747 which included sitting in the captain's seat. A very enjoyable and interesting day well worth the visit and experience.
