Stopped for a couple of days at this historic old inn whilst at Santa Pod.
Under recent new owners and really giving it a go. The newly refurbed rooms in the courtyard are very good, decent breakfast and not expensive. Good locals bar with a very good pint, and we managed to park in the courtyard too. It’s tough out there and they deserve every success
Thanks and we’ll be back when we are at the next big race day

Dear Mr M Hatter,
Thank you for such a thoughtful review. And we are very glad you enjoyed your stay at The Hind. As you say, we are really giving it a go! We have now completed refurbishment of 29 of the 34 guest rooms at the hotel plus associated circulation spaces / corridors. Next up the main building and then a reorganisation of the ground floor. This will create a smart new 'residents' bar or cocktail lounge to compliment the public bar.

We look forward to welcoming you back. And if you are the gentleman I believe you are I am sorry I missed the opportunity to see your splendid old RR motor car. Perhaps at your next visit!
Kind regards,

EXCELLENT!! What a lovely couple of hours we spent today with family celebrating Father’s Day with father’s day afternoon tea. There was 5 if us but there was enough food for at least one more maybe even two. The food was beautifully presented and tasted beautiful. They even gave us a box to bring home the leftovers. I would definitely do this again.

Dear Marriott,
Thank you for the lovely review. The team put a lot of effort into Fathers' Day and we are very pleased you found it good enough to heap such praise.
We look forward to welcoming you again - we do Afternoon Teas to a similar (not identical) pattern any day of the week!
Kind regards,

Stayed four nights on business and I was very impressed by the facilities, although unfortunately not so much by the food.

The bedroom was recently renovated, with a very large and comfortable double bed, and a spacious bathroom (although the semi-open shower left some puddles on the floor). There was a reasonable desk to work at, good tea and coffee facilities and the timber beams (just above head-height) gave it some character (See photos).

The location is very central and lots of attractions and eateries are in walking distance. The hotel definitely has character.

Breakfast was, unfortunately, a bit "hit and miss". The first morning I came down about 7am and was told there would be at least a 20 minute wait for a cooked breakfast, also anything except the full English (or bacon sandwiches) wasn't available. The next morning I came down at 6.30 and got my FE in 10 minutes, then switched to continental for the last 2 days. Slightly disappointed - I appreciate the hotel was busy, but that is the time most people there on business are in a hurry.

Dear Ossian,
Firstly many thanks for the balanced review. We appreciate when people put effort into reviews as it gives us better insight than a simple one liner saying either "excellent" or "terrible"... Though obviously we prefer the former! On the positive side we appreciate your praise of the Hind's character, bed and bathroom.

Right - breakfast: we tread a bit of a tightrope here between individually prepared plate and a buffet (which are becoming the norm even in 5* hotels). The issue is that as a relatively small hotel at 34 rooms, and with chance being a fickle mistress, a buffet will often leave items standing too long as people arrive in a rush then perhaps none for even an hour. Especially if we are under 100% occupancy. A plated solution provides a freshly prepared meal for everyone, but can have issues when or if we have a rush. I am so sorry you experienced the latter of these scenarios on your first day. We often have 2 chefs in for breakfast if we know we have bigger groups staying but we don't always get it 100% right. We seek to improve and we will take your comments on-board.

Thank you again for the constructive critique.
Kind regards,

We got married here on Tuesday. Everything was Absoloutely fantastic. Carly and her team were amazing and provided us the perfect day. We didn't choose to have the bridal suite, but the newly refurbed room was beautiful, perfect for us to get ready in. The bed was very comfy. The room was spotless. We also had breakfast in the morning, and the young lady serving couldn't have been more helpful. Compliments to the chef too as all the food we ate while there was enjoyed by everyone! Keep it up guys and I'm sure lots more people will also have their perfect wedding day!! Thank you so much for everything. Would definitely recommend to everyone!!

Dear Jessica,
It was a pleasure to host you and your party at the Hind this week. I am sorry that I was not available myself in this instance but Carly and her team are the consummate professionals and I have total confidence in her to produce what has been been envisaged by our brides and grooms! You opted for the Queen Anne Room for the ceremony, one of the oldest rooms in the hotel, and the Oak Beam Restaurant as the setting for your wedding breakfast. We feel this combination offers a perfect combination and allows the team to dress the venue superbly. We are glad you agree!
Your praise of all of our staff goes a long way to keeping morale in what can sometimes be a trying job and I thank you sincerely on their behalves. And likewise thank you for the compliments on the refurbishment. We think we have hit the right combination of modernity (USB sockets in many plugs and by the beds, for example) and classic style. You do make a point that you were not in the bridal suite - designs for this are still in the pipeline, most particularly as we may have to lift the roof off! But several other rooms in the hotel now offer excellent comfort so we feel this is not such a great challenge.

We wish you all the best in married life!
Kind regards,

Stayed here for bank holiday weekend whilst visiting the Santa Pod so wanted somewhere convenient rather than luxury. Had a newly refurbished courtyard room which was clean and comfortable with a superking bed and good quality bed linen. The breakfast was cooked to order and a very good standard for a 3* hotel. Didn’t eat in the Hotel restaurant but had a couple of drinks in the bar - a bit noisy for our liking, but the ale was good according to my husband! This hotel is obviously working hard to improve since new owners took over late last year. Refurbishment continues and is good. They acknowledge there’s much to do. The staff, led by GM Hayley, care about service and customer care. I’m sure this is the best hotel in Wellingborough in its class.

Dear Magdalene,
What a lovely review! You are right that we cannot call The Hind luxurious but what we lack in luxury I hope we make up for in attention to guests needs and, particularly in the newly refurbished rooms (now approaching 75% of the hotel) a level of practicality (multiple USB sockets in plugs for example; hairdryers) that leaves many 4 and even 5* establishments in our wake.

I am afraid our bar, like many town centre hotels, can get busy (and loud) at the weekend, especially when we have events at nearby venues such as Santa Pod and Silverstone. However we however have a strict 12 midnight policy on sound systems in the hotel and indeed from many of the rooms it is not possible to hear the bar even on the loudest nights.

As you say refurbishment continues alongside operations, with approximately 75% of rooms complete. Next stop the ground floor generally where a new bar should be created that will be more peaceful than the single "saloon bar" currently.

We hope you will stay with us again.
Kind regards,
