Description: Get the whole family together at The Holly Blue in Pevensey, a large child-friendly pub with a big beer garden, LED-lit patio for al fresco eating, and plenty of parking spaces. Whether you need a pub with Wi-Fi for a business lunch or somewhere with a menu that has meals for all tastes, the Holly Blue will do you proud. Bordered by farmland, The Holly Blue is the perfect place to relax over draught beers, world wines, and great British pub grub. Our carvery is served daily. The kids' menu is packed with healthy options and tasty treats. We do a whole host of main meals.

We arrived on Christmas Eve at lunch time, did not order seasonal meal, but chose something from t he general menu. we had prawn cocktail as starter, followed by chicken salad for my friend, and a turkey salad for me. drinks were shandy for my friend and Old Mout Cherry Berry Cider non alcolholic. the service was good nothing was rushed. staff were very friendly and helpful. the place was clean and tidy. there was choice of a Carvery for those who wanted it.

The service was excellent and the food was too. Busy but comfortable - not overcrowded with tables which gives a more relaxing atmosphere. Definitely go again.

We came to the Holly Blue as a family of four (one child) at just before 12.00. It was more or less empty when we arrived, so there was no rush and the staff were efficient. We all had the Carvery, was nice but the turkey had gristle and the gammon was very fatty. The carrots were not very warm but other vegetables were fine. I would probably return but not have the Carvery..

We are very sorry to say that the meal this time was so disappointing that we have decided to call it a day and look for another carvery venue locally. The beef and turkey meat on both our plates was so full of gristle and fat as to be inedible. I'm not sure what has happened to the quality control. The problem is that we have eaten here a number of times and it's very convenient and local for us, however we can never predict if the food will be enjoyable and this time has put us off for good. Terrible food this time but you might be lucky as we have been a few times over the years. We'd rather pay more elsewhere and know we will always enjoy our meal.

Hi

Sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the food.
If you had asked to speak to a manager and tell us about the food issue we could have dealt with it for you there and then. Sometimes you do get fat and gristle in a joint but all you have to do is talk to us.

If you email me directly at the pub mentioning this review we will see what we can do to make things better for you.

Best wishes

Great value for the special deal meals but only very average food. Also, they don't really know how to look after their beer - the Hobgoblin was served like a cold lager.

Hi

Thanks for the review. The Hobgoblin you refer to is an IPA keg product which is supposed to be chilled as it’s a keg draft beer and not a real ale.
Next time why don’t you try a pint of real ale with your food and you will see that it’s well looked after.

Cheers
