Another lovely Sunday lunch at Callenders. We took our family, including four year old granddaughter recently diagnosed with coeliac disease. Killian came to reassure us at the start of the meal that there would be no gluten contamination. We all had a lovely meal. My granddaughter cleaned her plate and said her dinner was delicious. The roast pork was beautifully cooked and was so soft. My daughter loved the lamb shank with chorizo.
Puddings were fab, especially the black forest cheesecake.
Due to Killian's knowledge and understanding the meal was stress free. Thank you to Killian and his lovely staff, always so welcoming and friendly. We will be back very soon.

This was our first takeaway, we ordered 3 roasts from a menu with a good range of meals. Greeted by lovely staff, food was packed really well.
We throughly enjoyed our meals and will order again.

Another fantastic meal at Calenders prepared by Killian and his friendly team in a comfortable and clean setting. The chargrilled Venison was cooked to a tee and my wife said the swordfish was the best she'd ever eaten. Portions are large and served piping hot. During lockdown we ordered many takeaways and the quality is always consistently good. Service is quick and served with a smile. Top marks again Callenders 👍🙂

Hello Mr. Tozer,

Thank you so very much for taking the time out to rate and review us after your most recent visit to our restaurant. The Venison, which is locally shot, is one of my favourites and is such a beautiful ingredient to work with that it really is a pleasure to cook and serve. The lemon & lime marinated Swordfish is a fantastic dish and again I am so glad that it was enjoyed so much.

I am so delighted to be open again after the most recent lockdown. We all put in a tremendous effort to get up and running again and we are all glad that our efforts have been appreciated. It is so nice to see you and all our customers (old and new) back in the restaurant again.

We look forward to seeing you again soon, and, again, many thanks for taking the time to rate and review us.

Kindest regards and the warmest wishes to yourself and Mrs. Tozer, from myself and all the staff at Callenders.

Went here whilst staying in the area on a break away
Had a few problems like no draft beer we ordered or no ice available and they got one order totally wrong even though we said it 3 times Little things like no dip with the garlic cheesy bread BUT saying that the food was very tasty and freshly cooked and didn't have heart to moan in their first week open I m sure it will improve and would try it again if ever in the area

Hello Carrie,
Many thanks for taking the time to rate and review us. We are so glad that you chose to come to us while visiting the area and glad that you enjoyed your meal.

It's true we did have a couple of teething issues on our first couple of days after lockdown for which I apologise profusely. Our keg beer, "Hophouse 13" was discontinued at short notice in the UK by it's brewer, leaving us with no alternative until the scheduled engineer's visit to change the pumps, which I am very happy to say has now happened. I am very excited to say we will now be serving "Curious Brew" on draught (From Chapel Down, England’s leading winemaker, who make premium craft beers, described by themselves as Beer for the discerning. Beer for the curious.) I do hope that within the range of nine bottle beers we stock you found one to enjoy. I am so sorry that on the night you visited the staff on duty were not yet experienced enough to advise, or deal with any of the post lockdown issues we were having, unluckily for us and you, all my senior staff were unable to work that night and my only other alternative would have been to cancel all bookings.

I am very glad that you did enjoy the food you did have, and I am so glad that you appreciated the quality and freshness of the local ingredients used. I really do hope that when you visit the area again that you will pop in to say hello and enjoy a couple of pints of Curious Brew on me.

Again, I would like to thank you for visiting our restaurant, and taking the time to rate and review us and hope that you enjoyed the rest of your time in Hailsham too.

Kindest regards and warmest wishes from myself and all the staff (trainees included) at Callenders, and we look forward to seeing you again.
