“Beautiful cottage, fabulous location, perfect for young families”
Reviewed 5 August 2018 for a stay in July 2018

We’ve just returned from a wonderful week in this cottage. As soon as we walked through the door, we knew we’d made the right choice. The lounge is small and cosy with a great selection of books, dvds, small children’s toys and board games to choose from. There’s an open fire with a good guard in place, but we didn’t use it as the weather was sweltering whilst we were there. We spent most of our time in the large and very lovely kitchen diner, which has French doors straight into the very long garden. The kitchen is well equipped and it thankfully all seemed clean (we’ve had some shocking experiences elsewhere with filthy grill pans in particular, yuck!). There’s a good selection of plastic plates, cutlery, etc for children. The dishwasher is great! The baby highchair was pretty grubby and the straps are not removable so took a bit of cleaning when we got there - I highly recommend Norfolk Hideaways ditches that highchair and invests £12 in an ikea antilop one - I know it doesn’t fold away but the legs come off for easy storage and parents will strongly thank you for the easy clean straps and bucket seat!! Please do it! The garden is very long but straight and secure so we were very happy to let our 4.5 year old roam free whilst we watched from the kitchen - she very much enjoyed collecting fallen apples from the trees and the summer house was full of toys and bits and bobs to entertain herself with. The bathroom is very spacious and right off the kitchen, which is very helpful with two small children. The shower is powerful enough and nice! There were stacks of towels to use! Also off the kitchen is the world’s smallest laundry room but it’s wonderful and I’m so sad to have left it behind! It has an excellent, easy to use, new washing machine, bench area to store and fold laundry and a ceiling dolly airer which I completely fell in love with. Incidentally, we cloth nappy and it was perfect for getting a load washed and dried in no time! There also seemed to be a great range of fans and heaters in the laundry room which we didn’t use but they looked functional. There’s also a small washing line in the garden. Upstairs, there is a double and a twin room. The double bed was comfy - though a bit soft for my wrecked back! - and had a large number of pillows. There was plenty of room even with the travel cot in here - the travel cot also looked a bit tired like the highchair but we took our own sheets and our almost one-year old slept like a log in it. The twin room is much bigger, the beds are very comfy and there’s a good range of books to choose from for bedtime stories. This room has a dimmer switch which was great to leave on ultra low so our 4.5 year old didn’t feel nervous sleeping in a strange room. She also slept like a log! We took our own travel blackout blind for the double room to help the baby sleep and I’m glad we did - but the curtains and blinds in the twin room were great at keeping the light out. The location of this cottage is second to none - a number of beaches are within 10-15 minute drive away and there are so many attractions within a 5 mile radius. We went out every day, never travelled more than 15 minutes in the car and visited Hunstanton and old Hunstanton, the sea life centre, Sandringham, beaches and lots more. There were still 4 or 5 places we didn’t get to visit such as the farm park, Norfolk Lavender and more villages along the coastline. There is a Co-Op and several excellent family-friendly foodie pubs within walking distance. The cottage is on a main road but we certainly didn’t notice and it all felt very peaceful and rural - the perfect getaway for us! We could just fit our Ford Focus on the front outside the house, just. The only gripe I had (aside from that highchair!) was that, although the whole cottage seemed very clean I felt this might have been done a little while before our arrival as there were quite a few cobwebs around. It didn’t bother us but it would’ve been nicer if they weren’t there! For that reason alone I’ve given 4* not 5 - if I could give 4.75* I totally would! I highly recommend this cottage to anyone, particularly young families as there is so much locally to do and it really worked for us. Beautiful place to stay and we’ve had a lovely holiday, thank you.
