“Happy Christmas!”
Reviewed 8 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

We stayed here over CHristmas and had such a lovely time. The owners (Rachel and Dave) were friendly and super helpful and even offered to put up decorations for us! There was a welcome bottle of wine and chocolates for us too.

The house was much bigger than expected with a huge Games room with full snooker table and lovely views from most Windows. There was everything we needed including kitchen equipment and plenty of room for six adults. The house was mostly modern, well decorated, lovely and warm, furniture was good quality and there was lots of storage so I could keep presents hidden before Christmas! The ensuite was really useful too.

There is a garden but because of the time of year we didn't use but I'm sure it would be a joy in the summer for a family.

You can just about walk into Belper (2 miles downhill - feels longer on the way back as its uphill all the way!) but there are some local taxi companies and a bus that goes to the top of the road. There are plenty of ways to walk out from the house and short drives to Matlock and the Peak District. Belper town is a nice little town. We had dinner at the Lion, which was really good, and Fish and Chips at the chip shop next to the Lion - they were just lovely!

Our only criticism was the wifi but I know Rachel and Dave are Looking into this. Make sure you follow the instructions to get to the house because it's easy to get it wrong as the house is tucked behind the owners. Sadly the closest pub whisk was 50 yards away is now closed.

“new year chill”
Reviewed 3 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

this has been one of the best places we have stayed in, as a party of six there was plenty of space for us all, a good sized kitchen and a lounge with lots of space, three good sized bedrooms one with an on-suit all very comfortable, one large family bathroom. in addition to this there is a great games room of the lounge with a full sized snooker table, this kept busy each day after a good walk down the lanes, which if you like to walk then this is ideal location, its in a small lane with lots of wild life about , there are no shops so bring what you require with you, but there are plenty of shops in belper about 1.5 miles away , and finely a big thank-you to the owners Rachael and David, we will all be back soon.

“Serene, with the most exquisite views”
Reviewed 22 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

The home was in the most lovely English country side setting, with views of fields full of sheep, cows, and a lovely garden. It is easily accessible to Belper and other towns in Derbyshire. It is a short ride to town, There is inadequate wi-fi/internet, a large telly, and a dvd player with some movies.it is clean, comfortable, has a fireplace, a full size snooker table, and plenty of games. The place has been recently remodeled. Our host was lovely and very accommodating. We were six and had no problems, and would stay there again when back in Belper. The owner acknowledged the need for better internet service and said that she would look into it.

Management Response

Thank you to our lovely guests, who are right about the need for a more reliable internet connection. Sometimes it is better than others, but clearly we need to find a way of improving it.
