“Your Own Hotel! - Absolutely Fantastic for Groups, Friends & Family.”
Reviewed 9 February 2017 for a stay in February 2017

I was looking for somewhere stylish set in a countryside location that was a little different to bring a big group of friends together from up and down the country (31 of us). The team at Peak Venues and the property owner could not have been more helpful in getting our weekend organised and ensuring we had a very memorable stay. I genuinely can not fault it. There's few other places like it.

“Great place to rent for a weekend of fun and country walls”
Reviewed 3 February 2017 for a stay in January 2017

We went as a party of 24 and had a great time here, the rooms are clean and nicely decorated. We enjoyed the pool and darts, the dining area is perfect for large groups and the kitchens are well equipped. I would recommend this venue for large groups of friends looking to get away.

“Great location for family get together”
Reviewed 28 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We found this to be the perfectly sized property for our party of 23-28. We could have done with less bedrooms, combining kids together, but the downstairs space was excellent. Sleeping 40 would be really packing everyone in. The kids of all ages made constant use of the games room playing pool and darts. There was constant watching of the Olympics. We were able to arrange the dining area so that everyone could sit down at once, but 24 at once is the limit if you also want a table for serving food.

We had a friendly welcome and good explanation of how things work at the property by Howard. The ordered beer barrel was already in place. Our Sainsbury's delivery worked out well too. We made full use of the ample kitchen with two ovens, two fridges, two dishwashers (and a bar glasses dishwasher). The secondary oven wasn't in the ideal place. The check out policy of being able to leave with the dishwashers running upon departure was great.

Everyone was happy with their rooms assigned to them. Would have been good to know which rooms also had a TV ahead of time, and it would be good to have pictures of all rooms (by number) on line. Some rooms can get very hot, especially those above the kitchen, and the opening windows are high up behind the blind so ventilation is limited. Would be good to supply fans. You also need to remember to bring your own hair dryer.

It's great that all the main room and corridor lights turn off automatically, though the light/fan combo in the ensuite bathrooms seem to stay on for quite some time while trying to get to sleep, so that could do with some adjustment.

Be aware - and you get told this on arrival - that you need to keep the gate closed and the main door locked (or supervised) since people think this is a real pub and may wander in. One person did this while we had the door open for something and so we had to politely turn them away. The door uses a combo code so you don't need to worry about your group needing a set (or sets) of keys. There is parking for 8-10 cars (or more if you really pack them in).

Looking at our options for next year, it's very hard to find the same kind of property (in terms of size, facilities and price) in other parts of the country.

We made day trips to Alton Towers (1 hour of fun UK country road driving), Chatsworth House (40 minutes) and nearby Bakewell (where the official bakewell tarts are VERY disappointing). Oddly, the nearby fish and chip shop is closed on Saturday nights after 5 or 6pm - Totally unhelpful. We got some good Indian food from the nearby Indian restaurant.

The deposit was returned within about 10-14 days.

“Our very own Pub for the weekend”
Reviewed 14 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Stayed at "The Derwent" weekend of 10th - 13th June 2016.
Greeted on arrival and given a tour of the key requirements. The former pub was excellent for a large group (we were 24 adults plus 11 children), as there is a great communal area around the bar area, with 2 smaller rooms (both with TV's) just off it, but open plan, so children were always close by, but enabled adults to relax and catch up without worry.
We also ordered a keg of beer from Whim Ales which had been delivered on the morning of our pending arrival, and we were shown how to set this up, which was good!
The accommodation also had excellent provisions. Cleaning items (Fairy liquid etc), hand soap in all rooms, dishwasher tablets (only 5 which was nowhere near enough), and plenty of toilet rolls etc
We also had a Tesco delivery arranged to the accommodation which was easy to sort, and there was plenty of fridge space especially as there were 2 wine fridges within the bar area on top of the 2 x fridges and spare freezer.
Rooms are all nicely decorated, and most rooms come with an en-suite, but plenty of spare bathrooms for those rooms that did not come with en-suite.
The downstairs part of the house did get quite warm, as not able to open many windows, but other than that, no complaints.
Would definitely recommend for large groups.
