“Very happy hens”

I have just returned from a beautiful surprise stay here for my hen weekend, I arrived to a lovely note and hamper left by the owners, the whole house was beautiful, a large kitchen and massive dining area, huge comfy beds, bath robes for every guest, everything was thought of. A short walk from the lovely town centre we had an amazing time eating, drinking, walking and shopping, there are now 13 very happy but tired hens, we will be returning for a family stay In the near future,

“Wonderfull holiday house, 5* would recommend”

We stayed here for New Year and couldn't believe how lucky we were to have found this house. The location was perfect, within walking distance of lovely Ashbourne. The house was spacious, plenty of room for our group of 3 families. Very well equipped making cooking a roast dinner on New Years day easy and our BBQ on New Years Eve amazing. When we arrived we had been given a fabulous welcome pack with lots of goodies getting our stay off to an excellent start. The house was warm and cozy yet spacious. Added touches like the white fluffy dressing gowns was lovely. I could go on for ever but basically it was brilliant, couldn't fault anything, would definately recommend.

“Great house for family Christmas”
Reviewed 19 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

From start to finish the service given by the owners was first class, they were extremely keen to ensure we had a great stay in their house from the first phone call, through to a lovely welcome hamper with wine, to the return of a forgotten item, nothing was too much trouble.
Christmas was spent by three generations at Hollybank House and the property accommodated us well with the two lounges ensuring peace and quiet or music and games could be enjoyed by all. The numerous televisions also meant all programme tastes could easily be catered for. The kitchen was well equipped and even had three possibilities as to how to brew your coffee - cafetiere, percolator or filter coffee machine!
Further little touches that highlighted the detail and thoughtfulness given by the owners to their guests included the bathrobes for all, tea & coffee facilities, water carafes, a hairdryer and paper tissues in each bedroom not to mention extensive books, games and information leaflets and maps on Ashbourne and the surrounding area.
The new chalet and BBQ terrace looked great but the December weather meant we did not make use of it, but lovely for a warm sunny day.
The house was also ideally located for walking into Ashbourne literally a few minutes to the shops, coffee houses and pubs which was great.
So all in all a lovely, comfortable, warm house perfect for our family 18th birthday and Christmas celebrations

“Beautiful house, with owners who anticipate every holiday need”

This house is absolutely gorgeous. As a Victorian house, it has lovely big rooms and corridors, and a cellar, and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring it on arrival, finding something interesting in every room. It is beautifully furnished throughout, with loads of little knick knacks and personal touches - but it didn't feel either so stuffy that we were scared to touch things, nor as though it was a "let" - it felt like going to a well off but welcoming favorite aunt's house. There were lots of games and things to do, and the owners made sure it felt relaxing and that we were never bored, as they supplied games for inside and out. They also supplied a lovely hamper for our arrival, which was very thoughtful, and a card and chocolates for my mum, whose birthday we were celebrating. I would love to go back.

“Perfect house for a laid back Hen party”
Reviewed 3 September 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We rented the house for a Hen party over the bank holiday weekend and were not disappointed. The house itself is lovely and very well appointed (especially the kitchen and BBQ) with plenty of space for the 13 of us. There were lots of nice touches - hamper on arrival and bathrobes and tea making facilities in all the bedrooms, that made it feel more like an upmarket B and B than a holiday rental. It is a great location - only a short walk to town and local shops. Ashbourne is lovely and was a great place for a Hen do, with people coming from all over the country, it is very central. The only thing missing was a stereo system - we brought our own. I would definitely recommend to anyone!
