The weather was fantastically sunny and when we pulled into the hotel grounds the sight of tables/loveseats under the trees was a welcome sight after a days walking in the Lakes. After checking in my partner wanted to freshen up for evening meal so I retired to the garden, via the bar, with a pint of Black Sheep. There was a wedding reception being held that day so I listened to the duet singing watching the swallow diving overhead.

We had been given room 2, which was on the opposite side to the function room, and it was peaceful and quiet despite the wedding being in full swing. It was large, clean and tidy - appeared to have been redecorated recently - the large double bed was very comfortable and had Egyptian cotton sheets. Only downside was the.electric shower wasn't very powerful compared to our own at home.
We had evening meal in the restaurant - it was quite busy with locals who were bantering with them making it a relaxed atmosphere. My partner had scallops while I had the pigeon breast starter, this was followed by a fillet steak and lamb Too full for a desert but both course were cooked to perfection and presentation was eye catching.

After a sound sleep we had the full English breakfast - which as the menu stated is cooked to order and takes 20 minutes but worth the wait. Local ingredients of high quality are used and treated with respect.

We stayed on a Secret Escape deal for 2 nights with an allowance towards evening meal for £180 - if the hotel had anything like this on their site I'd book it again directly.

Staff pleasant and attentive and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Room 2 was good having a double view over thew front to the Irish Sea and the fields at the side

We visited this hotel for Sunday lunch with around another 90 people in the group. The menu was quite extensive for a "choose your meal on the day"
The service was excellent as was the quality of the food we were served. We both had the beef for our main course and it was cooked to perfection. The cost was £17.50 per head for a 3 course meal with coffee but it was well worth it. This was our second visit in a week and the previous meal was just as enjoyable. After the meal we were able to sit on the sun terrace which was also very nice.

Had a lovely stay here the staff were all very pleasant, with great sense of humour a credit to the hotel, nothing was to much trouble very obliging.
The food in the restaurant was well presented and very tasty, it was good that we could mix and match from either menu, so covered all tastes.
Can definitely recommend the Eggs Benedict for breakfast also, cooked to perfection.
Would definitely return.

The hotel and grounds are very well maintained with lovely seating areas in the gardens. Our room (room 10) was well appointed clean, bright and airy.
We found the staff to be incredibly helpful, thank you to whichever staff member organised the surprise flowers for my birthday from my boyfriend, they were absolutely gorgeous !
We ate in the hotel restaurant for both evening meal and breakfast which were both delicious.
We look forward to staying again and will be highly recommending to friends and family.
