The location of the lodges is beautiful, - on a hillside looking down into the valley with the sea and St Bees to the left and the sea and Whitehaven to the right. In front of the lodge are donkeys, rare breed sheep, cows, and chickens, whose eggs you can collect straight from the henhouse for breakfast.
Carole and Stephen are kind and friendly and even collected me from the station.
The lodges are spacious, clean and airy, with lovely balconies to relax and enjoy the view. A brilliant alternative to the usual hubble bubble of tourism!
Springbank Farm's lodges, Walton, near St. Bees, are lovely lodges built overlooking St. Bees Valley. The spacious kitchen/dining/sitting areas are more than adequate for a family holiday. The lodge has two bathrooms, one with a walk-in shower, of which one is attached to a bedroom. As the lodges overlook the farm, it is wonderful to see the various sheep, beef cattle and let's not forget the resident donkey with its mother who enjoy the occasional apple or carrot. The hens are active providing delicious fresh eggs. We have stayed twice and most definitely would recommend this farm. The owners, the Woodmans, are very pleasant and accommodating!
