“Wastwater cottage is in a peaceful setting but not isolated, being within a short stroll of 2 village pubs and a village”

We arrived at the cottage on a dark wet Autumnal evening yet on arrival we felt immediately welcomed, as the lights of the cottage were on and as we stepped inside it felt warm and cosy. The sitting room has an impressive vaulted ceiling giving a sense of space and there are plenty of doors and windows providing wonderful views of the fells that rise up opposite the babbling brook running alongside the garden. It is great to be able to walk from the cottage either to the pub, to Stanley Ghyll or to Dalegarth railway station. A perfect peaceful retreat.

“Great relaxing venue in a timeless Lakeland setting”
Reviewed 31 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

we enjoyed a great two week stay in the wastwater cottage. extremely well equipped and furnished to a high degree.the location is very picturesque and has the convenience of some great pubs within a miles walk. the village itself is rather remote but we enjoyed that aspect of leaving the modern world behind a bit and stepping back to a post-war era britain of country lanes and grazing sheep.

PRO's - peace and quiet the first week; good location for rugged fell walking or reaching the coast.comfortable cottage, great setting.

Con's - our second week the other cottages were really full; with way too many kids and making parking difficult. Internet service was pretty sporadic with poor network strength.

Management Response
4 Jun 2015
We are sorry that your second week coincided with the school holiday week. The Lake District is very popular with families for the Whitsun half term week.

Just occasionally guests do park in the wrong space and when we see this we politely ask them to move to the correct parking bay for their cottage.

The internet does work and we have the maximum band width available. The thick stone walls in each cottage mean there are some areas of each cottage where the signal is strong and other areas where it is faint. We have now added individual notes to each cottage house-book as to which rooms have the best signal in each cottage.
