“A great cottage in a superb location. Would definitely recommend!”
Reviewed 31 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Scafell cottage is placed in an ideal walkers locations, with many scenic routes surrounding it. The pubs in Boot have a great atmosphere and tasty pub grub - which is perfect after a long walk! The cottage itself is very clean and fully equipped with kitchen utensils, bedding and board games! The owners of the cottage have great communications and willing to ask the many questions that you'll throw at them. Overall a great stay and would highly recommend the Boot cottage a visit.

“Beautiful, full of character and charm.”
Reviewed 14 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We were a group of 8 adults staying in Scafell cottage for 3 nights. We picked this area for its nearness to Scafell Pike for climbing. We had plenty of room, there are four bedrooms which would actually sleep nine and 3 bathrooms, 2 of which are ensuite. The cottage is beautiful, full of character and charm and spotlessly clean. It has a back lawn which is for a few cottages with a river running through and a lovely place to sit with the mountains as a backdrop, absolutely beautiful. Also which I thought was a lovely touch they had plenty of games for children in the presses and plenty of books to keep everyone happy. The Boot Inn is a must too, gorgeous food and a very friendly welcome, loved it. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again. Something to be aware of though the area is remote and phone coverage is limited (maybe not a bad thing when away for a few days).

“Idyllic stay in the Lake District”
Reviewed 19 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Perfect for our group of eight (three families). Lovely valley and close to good food in Boot. Hiked up the back side of Scafell, Burnmoor Tarn and Stanley Force. Golf nearby as well. Narrow gauge railway from Ravenglass and Muncaster Castle as well. May has lovely weather!

Indeed May is beautiful in Eskdale. Great to hear you did so much during your visit - hiking, golf, the railway and the superb pubs!

“Just lovely ”

The photos of the cottage don't do it justice. It's spacious and homely, plenty of room for our party of 9, and in a lovely rural location.

The cottage has modern new heating and gets lovely and cosy.

Some in our party were very pleased to find they had sky sports!

There's a lovely garden with seating right by the stream.

We only saw the care taker briefly, but we arrived a couple of hours early and he showed us in to the already warm and clean cottage.

If you have a big car be warned the drive way/parking is tight (as are many of the roads in the Lake District).

The only points for improvement id give are the double bed downstairs was much harder than we like, and the water was not very hot in the bath/showers.

We'd definitely stay again.
