“Brilliant holiday cottage!”
Reviewed 26 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

My partner, 2year old daughter and I stayed at the barn for a week in October. It was like a home from home! Anne and Roger, the owners, live next door and were very welcoming. The barn is warm and cosy and has everything you need and more! Even fresh eggs, milk and tea and coffee provided on arrival! We took a travel cot for our daughter and there was plenty of room in the bedroom. The views from the barn are beautiful, with Ennerdale Water just visible. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting that neck of the woods. We all loved it!

“5 star Barn.”
Reviewed 18 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

If you are ready for a relaxing time well away from your usual busy life then this is the place for you. Ideal for a couples break . The owners who are very welcoming have made sure you have everything you need to make your stay as enjoyable as possible just bring you food and clothes and your all set. Lovely clean accomodation, comfortable bed, fully equiped kitchen and best of all fantastic views out of the second floor lounge windows. We have stayed in lots of different places in the Lakes this has been by far the best place we have stayed.

“Amazing cottage, every luxury and practicality catered for, and fresh eggs!”
Reviewed 5 March 2015 for a stay in February 2015

Possibly one of the best self catering cottages we have stayed in in the UK.

Met by the owner and shown in, the cottage was stocked with towels, linen, kitchen equipment, milk, fresh eggs, salt & pepper and so on. The back we packed with the necessities that are all too often missing was simply not required!

Wonderful location - it is remote so you have to be prepared for that, but that is what we wanted, away from the tourist hordes. Easy access to many of the lakes to walk around, and near to the coast and more than enough pubs and shops that it just felt like home within minutes of being there.

Fresh eggs from the chickens in the garden, superb views, just absolutely perfect for a couple wanting to unwind and get away from it all (and broadband faster than we get at home!)

“Fabulous”
Reviewed 26 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Alexander's Barn is gorgeous. Lovely little nook, perfect for two. Ann, the owner, left us milk & eggs and there was tea, coffee, sugar, Sweetner, herbs etc there for us to use. Nothing was any trouble. The views were spectacular. DVDs, CDs & books for rainy days & evenings. The Fox & Hounds pub in Ennerdale serve lovely homemade food. Would definitely recommend staying there :)
