“Most excellent”
Reviewed 2 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Our extended family of 12 have just returned from a weeks stay at Broadmea Barn, a beautiful holiday home which was a pleasure to stay in. Our hosts Trish and Paul gave us all a warm welcome. The rooms are cosy and spacious, the beds are warm and very comfortable. There is lots to see and do in the area, we visited Hadriens Wall, Carlisle Castle, Walby farm park (for the kids) and Beamish museum, there are lots of walks close by and the scenery this time of year was most beautiful. The restaurant The Kirkstyle Inn is a must, delicious food beside a roaring fire was very welcoming. We would highly recommend Broadmea barn and would definitely stay again.

“Spectacular accommodation and location”
Reviewed 16 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Stay in the Barn and attached accommodating that sleeps an extra 6. Mixed group including children, young people in their 20s and the rest of us around 50. Very high standard of accommodation with excellent facillities. Fantastic for groups as large communal dinning with a variety of seating areas on three levels. Allowing groups to be together or engage in differtent activities in different areas. Of real value to a large group. Tv lounge right at the top with ample seating. Sauna an enjoyable feature for the group. Wi fi available but not consistent (the location) mobile signals hit and miss as you would expect. Very good cooking, diswashing, storage, and laundry facilities. Fridges and a freezer and a wine fridge! Everything to a high specification. Not suitable to wheelchair users as on several levels but if you can mobilise out of your chair and cope with some stairs you will be ok as I was. Alston the town 5 miles away is gorgeous. Beautiful shops and places to eat Food in Angel Inn very good. Be warned though for those with mobility issues very hilly with cobbled roads. Not at all wheelchair friendly. A must visit if you are staying in Broardmea though we went a number of times as we liked it so much. Steam rail ride worth a go too. Owners at Broadmea very nice and helpful. We want to go again we loved it!

“Stunning accommodation in a beautiful setting; perfect for a large gathering”
Reviewed 28 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We rented both the Barn and the Stable for the long weekend just past, for a party of 11 adults and 1 child. The Barn and Stables were perfect for our family gathering, with plenty of space for everyone.

Every little detail has been well thought out and it is furnished with the best quality goods throughout. The double fridge and separate wine fridge in the barn was particularly useful. The Bose stereo system with Blue-tooth connectivity is also a great feature. The beds were all really comfy and the bedrooms themselves were absolutely stunning.

Trish and her husband are fantastic hosts, never intrusive, but close at hand should you require anything. Our full party loved the accommodation and everyone would not think twice about staying here again. It's perfect for a quiet, relaxing break. In beautiful surroundings with lots of walking routes from the doorstep. Alston, only five miles away, has a great provision of quaint little local shops, pubs and the Spar there is brilliant.

I would highly recommend a stay in the Barn and the Stables; you will not be disappointed.

“Perfect location for a birthday get-together”
Reviewed 22 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We rented the barn and the stable for a long weekend in April. The standard of accommodation was very high. The dining room table was ideal for gathering everyone together, while the smaller seating areas and snugs were great for more intimate groups. The surrounding area offered lots of opportunities for beautiful walks. Hadrians Wall is only a few miles away. We had a lovely lunch in the nearby Kirkstyle Inn. Tricia was extremely welcoming and friendly. We were only sorry our stay was so short.

“Fantastic place to stay...”
Reviewed 10 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We booked both the Barn & Stable for the week after the Easter weekend for a group of 16 friends and could not have found a better place to stay.

Firstly the accommodation is to an exceptionally high standard and well appointed with everything that you'd need for a trip away from home.

Trish, the owner, is on hand & is such a lovely helpful person who made our stay as good as it was - if we needed anything she was more than happy to help.

It's also worth noting that Tesco in Carlise do actually deliver here if you order with plenty of notice - there were 16 of us and we ordered around 5 days in advance and the shopping arrived bang on the delivery time requested. I'd advise doing this as the shops in Alston are only small.

The property is also dog friendly.

The location is also ideal for that country get-away; only 5 or so miles from Alston, the local town which has all the shops you need plus a few pubs, chippy, butchers etc.

In the opposite direction is the Kirkstyle Pub, about a 45 minute walk away, which serves traditional pub food and also offer a very friendly & welcoming service.

There are plenty of beautiful walks around the local area and a few beauty spots further afield. The walks from Alston are a must - ask Trish for the leaflets.

You must also try Cauldren's Snout & High Force waterfalls along with Ashgill Force. You can also reach Hadrian's Wall in about 30 minutes drive.

I would highly recommend this place to stay if you are a large group or indeed just wanted to stay in either the barn or the stable as both can be booked individually.

We hope to back in the future.

Please feel free to ask any questions if you need more details.
