Description: This marvellous Grade 1 listed building is believed to date from 1656 and was the residence of the Lords of the Manor of Sandbach. It was in a state of advanced dereliction when we bought it, and the renovation has to be seen to be appreciated. We are proud of it.

This has to be one of the prettiest pubs I have visited. Lovely eating areas inside and out. Food is not of very good standard. I have food allergy and advised when ordering. The plate arrived with a lot of the food I am unable to eat. Waitress took it away and returned plate without offending item. The bread was stale and fish tasted like it had been frozen for a very long time. Not a place to go if you are tourist like me looking for a good meal.

The Old Hall's location not far from junction 17 of the M6 makes it a convenient place to stop for those heading further north or south.

This is a substantial, half-timbered property which has been sympathetically restored and converted into an agreeable hostelrie. Within the building there is a choice of different rooms and through to the rear a spacious and airy conservatory leads to a patio furnished with well-constructed tables and chairs under parasols making it a delightful spot on a sunny day.

There is an extensive selection of beers on handpump to choose from as well as other beverages including cider, wine and soft drinks.

The menu is diverse and varied daily, and offers an imaginative choice of light bites, starters, more substantial dishes, and puddings. Food was nicely presented and reasonably priced.

The members of staff, both serving at the bar and at tables, are young and enthusiastic, and at the time of visiting all were efficient, helpful and friendly. Overall the atmosphere was welcoming and throughout everything was clean and well maintained

Although within only a mile or so from the motorway, the Old Hall itself is located on a quiet road. There is ample parking at the front of the building.

This is a good place to know about and an ideal and convenient spot to break a journey.

Living in Sandbach I have eaten at The Old Hall 5 or 6 times and I’m yet to have a good meal there. Why do I keep going back you should ask, well my 94 year old father in law likes it. For me that says everything, the food is tasteless, expensive and boring. The menu might well have been written in the 70’s when English food had such a bad reputation. The staff try and are pleasant but the kitchen let them down.
Still with Sandbach being an OAP town the Old Hall will remain popular, it’s such a shame because it could/should be so good

I have visited most Brunning and Price pubs many times over the years including this one . This is a lovely building and setting and had been s favourite. However I visited this week and the food was bland and not well presented. Coconut rice tasted like plain rice and the sticky chicken had a thin coating of something but tasted like eating plain roast chicken. The Etom mess was just meringue and cream with lots of sugar and virtually no visible fruit except some tiny slivers of what looked could be blueberries. My friends risotto was too dry but the sea bass was nice to be fair. I hope it was just a poor choice or an off night but usually expect more from s Brunning and Price pub.

Have eaten at most of the brunning and price pubs and although the location and venue very nice the service is pretty poor, seems understaffed and not well trained, food pretty average too.
