We rented The Barn for my son's wedding in nearby Ley Hill. The cottage is comfortable, nicely decorated, full of light, and impeccably maintained. Staying for a week were my wife and I, my parents, and for a few days, our daughter. You enter the charming cottage from a private patio area (duck your head--old building, you know) into a sitting area with a pull-out couch, two comfy chairs, coffee and end tables, and the premium service TV. Off this common area is a bedroom with king bed, a bath with excellent shower, and a hallway to a lovely and well-supplied eat-in kitchen which looks onto the patio. We enjoyed leisurely breakfasts every morning and my folks had dinner in one night. A second bedroom with two twin beds is located off another short hallway from the kitchen. There is a clothes washer in the kitchen, which we used for a few items. (Hang to dry, rack provided.) Our host, John, was putting the finishing touches on a new Annex located next door and gave me a tour. The Annex is a self contained unit with what looks like a queen size bed, maybe a king, its own premium service TV, and bathroom. To have a cup of tea or a meal, you just pop across the patio and into The Barn. It would be a perfect setup for 6 people, seven with the pullout couch in The Barn. Within walking distance are Old Amersham with its historic district, pubs, restaurants, cafes, shops, a Tesco combination grocery and department store, and an outdoor store for hikers.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this charming property. It was very clean and well presented. The owners went above and beyond to ensure our stay was an enjoyable experience.
The provision of essentials and extras to kick start our stay was greatly appreciated and very thoughtful. The option of not having to go out straight on arrival for supplies or out to dinner was welcomed.
The kitchen was fully equipped and had everything needed to be fully utilised, there were plenty of pots, pans and other utensils.
The owners were very informative with local information such as places to visit and dining options.
The property was easy to check in to, with the property ready to access when we arrived. The owners were very prompt in communicating and responding and easy to deal with.
The property is located in a lovely village close to amenities such as restaurants, pubs and a supermarket. London was easily accessed from the main Amersham train station in approximately 35 minutes by train, being on a direct line into London.
The children were considered with computer games (Wii), the television had access to movies and a large number of channels (Sky) and even a Scalextric set. The owner (John) arranged for new bushes to be delivered for one of the cars for the set that needed them. That was indicative of the owners desire to please and ensure our stay was a memorable one.
The barn was very warm and cosy. We would thoroughly recommend this property and hope to stay again in the future.
I stayed at the Barn for over 5 months. It is private, yet close to old town Amersham, which is full of great restaurants, shopping, a Tesco and many weekend events. The Barn's owners are consummate hosts; they respect your privacy but are also willing to talk and give local travel advice. The kitchen is perfect for most any dining need. Patio is large, secluded and impeccably filled with gorgeous blooming plants. In addition to the master bedroom, there is a second BR with two twins or can be used for additional luggage storage during long stays. I would recommend this to anyone for a short or long term stay. You will be in great hands.
We stayed here last year (2015) and loved it so much we came back for more (2016). Once again John and Gill made every effort to make our stay as comfortable and easy as possible with essentials in the fridge and loads of wonderful little extra touches. This is more like staying with friends than in rented accommodation. On our first trip it was just my eldest son and myself. This time it was the whole family. John is such an amazing host that he remembered that our youngest son loves Thomas The Tank Engine, so John went out and bought a Thomas train track set for our youngster to play with when we were at the property.
So with the kindness and consideration shown by the owners, the extraordinary cleanliness, the great location and the bucket loads of character and charm, this place really can not be beaten!
Thanks again John and Gill. We'll be back (again and again).

My female colleague stayed with a group of five girls aged fifteen at the cottage. They were very pleased with their stay as everything was provided for a self-catering basis. In about five minutes the students could reach TESCO on foot.
The cottage is spacious and cosy and is located in the charming town of Old Amersham, near Amersham on the Hill. By means of buses you can reach Beaconsfield and High Wycombe easily.
The landlord of the cottage, who lives near by, was very helpful whenever advice was needed.
