Super accommodating Glamping Resort (glamorous camping) in the jungle. We quickly learned the names of all the staff from Antonio/one of the owners, to Penny the marketing and tour guide, Lorainna at the front desk and Daniel the chef. We loved our bungalow tent which was very posh for the jungle with a romantic netted kingsize bed, free yoga in the morning Monday through Saturday, and dipping our feet in the Cenote for a fish pedicure was a cool treat. Free breakfast was the same, coffee/tea fruit and toast, we added the egg option for a small charge that came with corn tortillas. We took the tour to the Animal Sanctuary Preserve in the electric car and it was amazing, educational and the Cenotes were absolutely surreal and perfect for a swim (Yes, we took a dip). Take the tour if you are there on a day it is offered.

Now if you want pampering and you want to walk out of your hotel room right onto the beach, this might not be for you for a full week. But even if you are a Pris, and yes even I have my moments, it's worth a day or two at the least. We slept great, we enjoyed being engulfed in nature, the hospitality was off the chart and we met a bunch of super nice people. So save your high heels for your stay in Carmen Del Playa and bring your scrubby kicks and casual beach wardrobe to this very pretty calming and beautiful hotel.

A few things to keep in mind. They are a relatively new hotel so we expect they will expand their menu offerings which aren't yet consistent (except breakfast everyday). The few meals we did have there were really tasty. Free bikes take you to the beach if you didn't travel by car - but biking back and forth by day on the unpaved unlit dirt road became tiring after a few days so we would rent a car next time. Parking by the beach is cheap and so having a car makes in easier to go back and forth from the hotel to the beach and travel to other locations like Tulum.
The rooms are great, and they all have a private bathroom with shower but If you want hot shower water you need to let them know and they will bring you some. We connected with our adventurous side and sucked it up and showered with the cool water. It was quite refreshing.

Our stay was great, we relaxed, we biked everyday, we did yoga together 3 of the 6 days and we went home feeling refreshed. Highly recommend you add a few days at Akumal Natura to your Mexican coast vacation.

Room Tip: All rooms offer about the same level of privacy

Off the main road, hidden in the forest is a beautiful and truly memorable place. Me and my boyfriend spent there 3 nights at the end of our trip around Yucatan, and we both wish we've discovered this spot earlier. The whole area is beautifully arranged, the huts are clean and cosy, and there's a lovely private cenote with a fish spa. There are free bikes for rent that can take you to the nearby beach with sea turtles (it's best to go there in early morning when the water is crystal clear, and there are no people around). But the best thing about this place are the people. Even though we've only spent there a few days, we could already feel like a part of an amazing community. The hosts, staff, and other guests in the retreat were super friendly and it was a pleasure to spend time together with all of them. I was absolutely delighted with the morning yoga classes that turned out to include elements of acroyoga, caporeira, and thai massage. I left every class feeling relaxed, loved, and incredibly grateful (did I mention that the classes were free of charge as well?). Strongly recommend to everyone looking to recharge their batteries!

beautiful cabanas out in a jungle setting. We loved the cenote and the free fish pedicures you can get! The free bikes are awesome to get to the attractions nearby, and staff very friendly and helpful. We were lucky enough to meet one of the owners and he took us to his conservation park to see monkeys, snakes and crocodiles.
If you arrive from the collectivo to Akumal, its an easy 10-15minute walk that taxis will try to charge you through the nose for.

gracias amigos por vuestro amable comentario. Fue un gran pase de recibirlos y también realizar el tour por la unidad de manejo ambiental con los animales. Queda para la próxima vez la visita al cenote del rancho Al que no pudimos ir por la lluvia !

We arrived in Akumal around 8 pm by a bus from Chiquila. We decided to walk to Akumal Natura from the town center, which probably took about 20 minutes. Fortunately, I had some head lamps because after leaving town there are no street lights for about a 1/4 mile. Upon entering the grounds you can tell this place is different. The entrance and common area are outdoors but lit up brightly and styled beautifully. The walkways to the the "huts" are also well landscaped and lit. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. Customer service was always above and beyond excellent. There is a private, easily accessible cenote which was a quiet and calm area to see fish and turtles. I took one of the acroyoga classes that they offered one morning. The teacher was fun, engaging and I was amazed at all the new poses I was taught. We used the free bikes often which came in handy to go snorkel at the nearby bay or to go into town for some delicious street tacos. This place is truly memorable!

I can't explain how grateful I am for finding this amazing place. The kindness and love I experienced from these beautiful people will forever be in my heart. This place will change your life forever. I travelled alone and was blessed to feel embraced by a community (not only on the retreat) but within the Puebla as well. There are many sides of Mexico that everyone should open up to. Step away from the luxury resorts. One day these beautiful jungles will be gone and it's important to support those who are trying to save it.
If you're looking to find yourself or simply get away from stress and the everyday rush there is no other place to go. Lore, Adrien, Eliu, Roberto, Pedro and Alejandra are now my family and true friends. Thank you and Namaste. ❤️
