It's restaurant with a beautiful view of a waterfall and natural landscape. When you're there, it feels like you escaped from the city and into the 18th century with architecture there's very pleasing and for those history lovers, it's a must go place.

Three of us visited this restaurant based on TripAdvisor recommendations and can only say WOW! The location is a bit off the main roads but is worth the drive. We went after a visit to see the historic murals at Cacaxtla site. The restaurant is in a 200 year old restored mill by a waterfall and stream. The outdoor covered patio where we were seated overlooked the waterfall. The proprietress, Erika Cisneros, was very gracious and also spoke perfect English. Menu was very creative Mexican and there was almost nothing that we didn't want to try. We started with tacos with hibiscus and pork belly served with three different salsas. Next we had three different entrees. Shrimp in an orange/achote sauce, ox tail in a fabulous family recipe of rich dark chili peppers and lasagna with pork rinds. Of the three, the only dish that wasn't outstanding was the lasagna. It was suggested that we have a glass of port to pair with the ox tail sauce. It was a great recommendation. For dessert, there were a number of mouthwatering options but we selected the homemade ice creams (two orders) so we could taste four different flavors. All were unique and tasty. Presentation was lovely and plates were appropriately warmed. Service was also very well handled and our server was always available but never on top of us. The interior of the old home includes a lovely bar, sitting rooms, additional dining room and more. Ask about the interesting history. Clearly, with the quality of food, service and ambiance this place is worth a visit. It's a hidden gem set off from typical small Mexican houses and shops. We would definitely go back!

This place is away from any hustle and bustle. Nestled on the banks of a river, this site belonged formerly to a textile factory that was dedicated to dyeing fabrics. They have recently opened it to the public, making it a restaurant and providing an intimate and very romantic atmosphere.
Me and a group of friends went to this place to celebrate Valentine's day and we were not disappointed.

Pros:
They have gourmet dishes, a fusion of ingredients between traditional and modern.
The food is fresh and has great seasoning.
Service is friendly and attentive.
They have outdoor heaters for an evening on the terrace.
The place and the view of the river provide an intimate and romantic atmosphere.

Cons:
Although the waiters are friendly, the food takes a while.
They need a bit more outside heaters, because on a busy night in autumn and winter, it seems they are going to run out of them.
It is a bit tricky to get to the place, it isn't very well signposted on the road and the GPS loses signal in certain areas.

Suggestions:
Jamaica (hibiscus) tacos are delicious!
There is a beef stew (which I can't remember the name) and the meat melts in your mouth!

Thank you very much for your kind opinion. "Molino de los Reyes" is a beautiful place, full of history and magic. We are proud to have it. The building was a mill in the XVIII century, was named "Mill of the Defense". During the Mexican Revolution, the mill was abandoned, and serve as strategic hiding quarters for those men that fought for the social rights of the all.
For some years now we have worked in order to share with new generations this magical place surrounded by this incredible natural beauty in the state of Tlaxcala. We would love to see you soon.

A feast for the senses in a secluded dell where the architecture blends seamlessly with the landscaping of an old mill pond - curves and water everywhere. The food takes traditional local fare to an exquisite level, unexpected combinations of food perfectly seasoned. Attentive and knowledgeable waitstaff. A truly marvelous experience.
