The room was fantastic, the hotel, grounds, and restaurant were beautiful, the food and cocktails were sensational, and the staff, from the front desk to the restaurant/bar to housekeeping were all amazingly friendly and made us feel right at home. We didn't want to leave. I'd give it 6 stars out of 5 if I could.

We stayed here for a night as per of a trip to PEC. The hotel staff are all very friendly and helpful. Service was excellent. The decor of the place is a bit different / eccentric. If you’re familiar with the other drake properties in TO you’ll know what I mean. We got a free upgrade to a room w a balcony which was nice. It’s not a luxury hotel and it’s pricey but I suspect it’s the nicest hotel in PEC and definitely offers a unique experience. The in house restaurant is also fantastic and there are great views of the lake! Would stay here again.

We just spent a weekend at the Drake, during which we had two brunches and a dinner at the restaurant.

The meals were excellent, although the service was a bit slow at times even during the Monday morning brunch when we were one of three tables seated.

The room was clean and tastefully decorated (this is where “boutique” comes in) however given the cost it was lacking some key amenities. While understanding the restaurant is the focus of the hotel and that management is trying to discourage heavy drinking, when you’re paying upward of $500 a night, I expect a room fridge.

There are a lot of things do to and see during the day (Sandbanks for example) so the inability to keep food in our room actually had a significant impact on our plans. We actually had a fruit platter ready for our arrival, and it was great, but we weren’t able to finish it so some of it went to waste. Similarly, some of the food we had packed for the drive had to be thrown out. For a hotel that brands itself as being green, this doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense.

For future visits to the county we will be staying elsewhere, with perhaps a visit to the Drake to eat. It’s a hard to justify the cost of the rooms as they are.

Dear Alex P,

Thank you for your review! We are so glad that you enjoyed your time with us! While we are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your dining experience we must express our apologies if the timing of the service was slow at times. We work hard to service all of our guests and will continue to strive for excellence.

Prince Edward County offers many locations which lend themselves to sightseeing opportunities deserving of toasts and picnics which is why we do have fridge facilities for guests, for situations, just as you described.

The Devonshire offers picnic lunches which are ideal for trips to the sandbanks or a millennial trail adventure, in addition to a number of pre-arrival treats, which can be stored when requested. We can certainly also deliver ice buckets with ice for chilling your favorite winery find so it is perfectly chilled for your pleasure.

We would love to welcome you back to the Devonshire, in future if there is anything we can do to ensure a wonderful stay please let us know.

We received a gift certificate to the Drake, otherwise it wouldn’t have even been on our radar. We had an incredible stay! From the complimentary sparkling wine, to the the picturesque views and exceptional food, we were thoroughly impressed. We were guided by the knowledgeable front desk staff to take a bike tour through the wineries. While we were at one, a man approached us that recognized the bikes were from the Drake. He told us a story of how one of his friends lost an earring there, and the staff not only found it, but drove across the county to bring it to her. Very memorable visit. Thanks Drake staff!

Took our first trip to PEC since moving to Toronto eight years ago. Staying at the Drake was a fantastic experience. From the moment we walked in the door to the last steps leaving we were treated like royalty. Food and wine were great and the bed was super cozy.
We will be back at the Drake and County sooner than later.
