It was our family's first visit to the Hamilton warplane museum which has a nice collection from the two world wars and a few later models. What made this an exceptional experience was the gentleman who guided us for a tour.
Rob has been involved with planes his whole life both in the military and in the civilian world. As a pilot he operated those planes and trained younger pilots. He treated us with a perfect mix of history, anecdotes and a sprinkle of science that made it an amazing learning opportunity as well as a real connection to the history and achievement of Canadian aviation.
This is something every young mind would love but any age would enjoy, especially when there is someone like Rob who can bring the history alive.

Spent a little more than an hour with 4 grand kids aged 4-11. Even the younger ones enjoyed the visit. They got to sit in a few planes. The displays held their interest - at least for a while. The older ones could have stayed longer- but the we had other things to do. The flight simulator was a bit hard to get going and only one was available- the other two were roped off.

Had always wanted to visit this museum and was not disappointed! Lots of excellent displays in addition to the aircraft. A nice feature is the ability to sit in a number of different cockpits. Try to save some time to see the outside aircraft as well. Gift shop was great. There was a cafeteria but we didn't have time to try it out. This museum is definitely worth visiting more than once.
