Nikki and Marty are great hosts. They guided us in things to do in the area and shared the history of the property and the area. They made us feel really welcome and yet let us have our space to enjoy time with our daughter. The house, Coor-Bishop Dependency, was a treasure of history and period furnishings, but the amenities were modern, making our stay very comfortable. If you want a place to relax in an historic town with lots of interesting shops and many good places to enjoy a fine meal, this is your place.
This is the second time my family and I have stayed at the Coor-Bishop Dependency in Historic New Bern. This home is lovely in every way. Very neat and clean. They provide you with everything you need for a pleasant stay. One block from the river and 4 blocks from downtown in a beautiful and quiet historic neighborhood.
Mums Fest 2015 in New Bern, NC offered an outstanding way to enjoy all that the small historical community had to offer. From its easily navigable streets, beautiful older homes, the dependency lodging option, B&Bs vs. local hotels, water front activities, assortment of artistic/quaint shops and best of all, ease of getting there (via car or plane).
We only had 2 days to stay while visiting with family on a tree lined street a block away from the town proper and 4 houses from one of the rivers, but this short weekend trip combined with staying in the Coor-Bishop Dependency promised to be one which we repeat over and over.
For a couple or a small group not wanting to stay in a local hotel, but still wanting to be a 2 minute walk to local shops, pubs and restaurants I recommend the Coor-Bishop Dependency. Great owners, great atmosphere and an overall very enjoyable location to be in. Enjoy!
