We have been to Corsica three times, but have never made the trip to the Scandola Preserve (World Heritage site) accessible on by boat. That changed yesterday with a wonderful day on the Catacalvi catamaran.
We contacted the owner via the catacalvi.free.fr website and arranged for two spots (he takes 15-20 max) for the all day trip. We had looked at many of the other vendors. Most were three hour round trip excursions (morning or afternoon) but the all day trip including kayaks, snorkel equipment, lunch, and open bar appealed to us.
We departed Calvi at 9 am and cruised by motor to a beautiful protected cove just before the Scandola preserve, we're we stopped, snorkeled, and swam... exploring some nearby caves. Upon return, we were greeted with open bar while lunch was being prepared.
Lunch was delicious. (Rotisserie chicken, tabuli, sun dried tomatoes, carrot salad, chick pea salad, fresh bread)
After stowing the gear and lunch, we took a breath taking cruise through Scandola with its towering rocks and wild surroundings.
Beautiful magnificence! Wonderful highlight of our already breathtaking Corsican experience.
The captain spoke enough English for us to understand and enjoy the day (and to operate the ship's toilet) :)
