Thanks Debra for your kind words! Colin
My wife and I stayed at the Highlands House B&B for our honeymoon. It was one of our most spectacular experiences. We stayed in both suites of the B&B.
Our first few nights we stayed in the Fireplace suite. The room was magical and elegant. The room had a beautiful canopy queen bed and probably the most comfortable chairs we have ever sat on. The chairs faced a huge gas burning fireplace that was perfect for warming up the room on some cool nights. The washroom had an in floor jacuzzi with a huge window that allowed us to overlook the forest while relaxing in the tub.
We ended our stay in the Terrace suite. This room provided a very cozy atmosphere, which allowed you to feel as if you were at home (if your home was in the mountains that is). We only used one of the bedrooms on our stay, however, this suite offers two rooms, which would be perfect for families or two couples. Each room has its own bathroom, with a shared living area and kitchen. The living area had a beautiful gas fireplace that could warm up the whole suite in minutes.
Although we stayed in both rooms, it is not the rooms that make this B&B above all others. The owners of the B&B made the experience unforgettable. Our first breakfast was prepared overlooking their beautiful property. Eating breakfast, while enjoying the sounds of nature and waterfalls is an experience like no other. Every morning, each breakfast was as god as the last. It is impossible to say what meals we liked most because each one was to die for. Due to the excellent location of this B&B, we were able to see all the wonders of Highlands, NC. Just a quick few minute drive and we found ourselves on Main Street enjoying great food and shopping in boutiques like no other. As we drive another few minutes, we find ourselves overlooking some of the most beautiful waterfalls we have seen.
In the evening at 6pm SHARP, every guest is treated to one of the greatest cocktail hours before heading out for dinner. Here is where we can interact with the owners on a personal level. The experience is so comforting that you do not even feel like you are at a B&B. The atmosphere feels as if you are visiting a relative that you have not seen in years and you can find yourself talking for hours. You will have such a great time that you often contemplate skipping your dinner reservations.
All in all, I know this review is long, however, there is so much more I could say. This review does not do this B&B justice. I would recommend anyone to go. It will be an experience that you will talk about for years to come and you will find yourself making this B&B and annual tradition.
Thank you very much for making our honeymoon memorable. We look forward to returning very soon.
Thanks Onorio for this wonderful review! We loved having you and Casey stay with us! Colin
We have recently had the pleasure of making a return visit to our favorite B & B. We can't tell you how beautiful the location is. A great get-a-way quiet and peaceful with lovely outdoor seating areas. And yet, close to town. If nothing else, breakfast is divine. Yum - fruit compote served warm and peanut butter french toast - what else could one want.
