The location is great, just minutes from town and anything you may need, yet secluded enough to get away. The whole family and the dog had a fantastic time.
The cabin is very well equipped, you will probably find everything that you need and then some. The host John and Claudia are very accommodating and beyond nice, they live close by and have their own must see art gallery, there are samples of their art throughout the property and the cabin.
My only recommendation is that you arrive at the cabin the first time during day light, the way into the cabin is a little tricky and the GPS will only take you so far, just follow the "rubber ducky" themed signs.
Great location close to town and the quick trip to the parkway.
We loved the layout, accessibility and the art and furnishings are very nice.
Seemed we were tucked in the woods and a very private neighborhood.
Wish we could have stayed longer!
Thank you Claudia!
We’ve stayed at Yummy Mud Puddle several times and like it so much that we don’t even want to look for alternate accommodations near Burnsville.
In short: It’s ultra-convenient to Burnsville and surrounding areas; it’s totally removed from traffic and has an exquisite mountain view; it’s large enough to comfortably hold six guests; it’s extremely clean and well-equipped. Oh, and the hosts are as charming and accommodating as can be.
Yummy Mud Puddle is a three-bedroom, two-bath home with a large kitchen, comfortable living room, separate dining room, and a huge deck that extends the length of the house; the deck affords spectacular views of the mountains. The home is on an exceedingly large lot, so you definitely have privacy. The only noises you’re likely to hear are birds and bullfrogs.
Your hosts are both artists; (one is a potter, and the other is fabulous at a variety of mixed media). Their studios are part of their property down the hill, so if you want to see their work, you can feel free to do so. They are also happy to provide “where to go and what to do” advice—or merely engage in interesting conversation. However, they are absolutely non-intrusive.
Six of us (2 adults + 4 kids) stayed here for a long weekend and had a great time. Host was responsive before the trip and house was clean on arrival. Plenty of room.
Well-supplied. Large deck with amazing view. Less than 5 minutes to town for a few good restaurants and groceries. A couple hikes within 20 minutes - many many more within, say, an hour. Blue Ridge Parkway less than 40 minutes.
Had a very pleasant stay at Yummy Mud Puddle! views from the porch are amazing. Very beautiful nf artistic pottery plates and mugs.
