Wanneroo Botanic Gardens is privately owned, about 45 minutes on the north side of Perth city. It was established in the 1970's and the before and after pictures are amazing as it was just a bare area of sand (that's Perth). You would never guess it by the lush rainforest under tall trees flourishing there. A mini putt-putt golf course winds through the garden which has a cost but the garden itself is free. With a café at the entrance, it seems very popular with all generations and families. It makes a good fun day out beginning or ending with breakfast or lunch. There are different plants flowering at different times of the year such as azaleas and day lillies. There are evergreens, European deciduous and many tall native eucalypts There are many ponds and streams so you are always close to the sound of water. I loved the Washboard Falls, which are very pretty.
A very pleasant family day out!
