Owner description: Holiday Boating- we make it easy for you! Bryher Boat and Kayak Hire from Bennett Boatyard allows you to explore the tranquil clear waters of Scilly at your own pace. Cruise between the islands, visit uninhabited shores, fish from your boat (fishing lines available to hire), take a picnic, moor up and explore... The possibilities are endless and with a safety boat doing regular patrols and staff always ready to lend a hand if you are at all unsure, this really is an option available to all. We are based at Green Bay on Bryher. We have hire points on St Martin's and deliver to Tresco by arrangement. If you are staying on the other islands, please make your way to Bryher, Tresco or St Martin's for the day and we will fit the hire around your inter-island launch times. We hire small boats with outboards, a range of sailing dinghies and stable sit on top kayaks. We provide buoyancy aids, full safety equipment and give comprehensive instruction on boat handling. Wetsuits and fishing lines also available to hire. We hire from 9.30am to 6pm with half day hires from 9.30am - 1pm or 2pm - 6pm. We can also arrange hire times around inter-island launches. We are here to help, call us to discuss your hire requirements. Thinking of keeping your boat in Scilly? We offer year round storage for all boats in our safe and sheltered enclosure. We cover all aspects of boat care and provide a full maintenance and repair service to give you a hassle free boating holiday.

This is our 4th year of hiring a boat from Bennett's - wish we'd done it years ago. It's a great way to see the islands and all the staff are really helpful. Made us townies feel reassured (even competent) at using a boat! We'll definitely be back.

We've been hiring run-arounds and day-sailers from Dan Bennett for years now - and once again our most recent 8 day hire gave us a great experience. Boats are well-maintained and easy to manage, and the team are always smiling and helpful.

Came to Breyer mainly for the fishing. Very good service and price for boat hirer. Good attentive staff and very friendly service. Good history of the boat yard whilst waiting to be served. Highly recommended this service for a day out on the water.

Rented a small boat with Himself and Herself (Maddie-the-dog), and it really was the highlight of our holiday.

After a quick - but very adequate - talk-through and demo from a fab boatman (I think Iain? Scottish and very friendly!) we were off. Great advice on where to go to make the most of our hire, and handy tips for mooring without getting beached.

Our boat was easy to handle and moor, and well maintained.

We stopped for a paddle on a beach round the corner, before getting Samson all to ourselves for sunning and exploring. Absolute perfection. Completely deserted, blissful sun, only the sounds of seabirds and waves... the only downside was having to eventually leave!

Thank you so much guys – we'll definitely be back. Highly recommended.

Top tip: take a picnic in a cool bag for an unforgettable lunch on one Samson, or one of the silver Tresco beaches looking out towards St Martins. Whatever you do, don't forget sunscreen and bottled water though!

We've hired boats from Dan for about the last 5 years, whenever we make our annual trip to Tresco. He and his team are a friendly bunch and are always happy to give some advice to enthusiastic amateurs like us. We usually hire a day-sailer with motor which is set up to make it very user friendly, so there's no difficulty setting the sails or tying tricky knots. It's great to be able to have a quick sail before a walk or lunch on Bryher or St Martin's without having to rely on the boat times. It's ideal for getting the family over to Samson for picnics on an empty beach too. Of course the best thing is being out on the channel with the sail up and the sun shining! Very peaceful.

This year we booked a bit late and hired a Wayfarer for the first part of our trip. Dan let us know when the day-sailer became free a few days earlier than expected which was helpful of him.

Boat handovers and instruction are hassle free and can be very brief formalities for the more experienced or more in depth tutorials if it all looks a bit confusing initially. At the end of the trip you just leave the boat on its mooring and the guys will collect it. Dan is easily contactable throughout the day if any issues do arise, and if required one of the team can head over in a RIB and sort things out quickly.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these guys to a friend looking to hire any of the available boat types for a week or even a day. There's been nothing but positive experiences in the time we've been customers. The freedom of having a boat really adds to the holiday and these are a great bunch to deal with. We'll certainly be back again next year and will be booking earlier as they seem to be getting busier and busier!
