We booked two nights here after a safari so in much need of a nice rest. Beautiful hotel, reception was awesome and the reception staff were attentive. Shown to our room and it was an excellent standard. A special mention to Catherine in guest services who was lovely and bought up a birthday cake for me. We ate that evening in the restaurant and it was OK, but just OK it certainly was not the quality of meal you would expect in a top hotel but then again it was not expensive. We ate on the terrace and it was a stunning view overlooking the beach.
The following day we went on a walk around Stonetown and the hotel is in a perfect location for this. We got back mid afternoon to have a rest before going out in the evening. The consumable toiletries had not been restocked and the ironing board we had left out was not put away, also the mastic line to the back of the wash basin was disgusting (photo attached) this is basic housekeeping. Also there is a television behind the mirror over the bath and this was not working. We laid down for an afternoon snooze to be woken by hammering and drilling, we contacted reception and it took about 20 minutes for this to stop, by then we were so wound up about it we couldn’t rest again. It was apparently the maintenance team working in another room. The following morning we were woken at 08:30 by the same hammering and drilling, we reported this immediately and it was stopped for the remainder of our stay. We checked out and was asked if everything was OK, we mentioned the hammering/drilling so the manager was called. He was very apologetic and refunded us the cost of our meal from the evening before which was not much as we only had a main course and one drink each but this was accepted graciously but to be honest, the cost of the room for two nights here was not enough compensation and that alone would probably not want me to revisit the Park Hyatt.
