I spent two nights at Maru Maru (weekend on a work trip).
First the good things. Its a lovely old typical stone town building. Fantastic location right next to fort. Lovely looking room. Great roof terrace. Good breakfast. Small but functional rooftop pool - fine to cool down, but don't expect a workout.
Now the problems
Wifi is appalling. Almost non-functional in my 3rd floor room; a bit better when I went to reception, but not much - tried to make a WhatsApp call and kept dropping. Given that the hotel was very quiet when I was there, it must be a poor system.
Room was way too light in the morning - I woke at 6am both days as the curtains are very thin and do little to block out the light. This is just not good enough in a hotel like this.
Bed was uncomfortable. Mattress was too hard for me.
Loud music until 10.30pm from roof terrace (rooms open onto a courtyard that is open to the roof). Ok, not late, but I struggled to hear the TV in my room because of the music!More
