Staying at the Ikuka Safari Camp is like being in an Ernest Hemingway novel set in Africa. Only you are hunting the lions and elephants with a camera not guns. You wake up early and hear the baboons going wild by the river and Festo, your guide, says only a leopard makes them hysterical that way. So you jump in the safari vehicle to go see! The day ends with a beautiful tradition of a sundowner, your choice of drink as you admire the sunset and zebras. As for the Ikuka camp, it has it all—comfortable beds, excellent food, warm showers, and, most importantly, knowledgeable guides and staff. The glam tents felt like home. I almost want to keep this a secret for my future trips here, but I’m feel compelled to share this jewel in the middle of Tanzania far from the other tourists.
