Ikuka is special its location perched on the edge of an escarpment with amazing views over the valley floor is enough reason to on its own. Add in great food, beautiful accommodation and guides that “guide” makes a wonderful combination. The area is vast but the guides are accomplished at finding a wide variety of animals and birds. In 4 days we had numerous leopard, lion, elephant and the usual subjects then add in Wild dogs and their puppies, Serval, African wildcat we could not have asked for much more.

Congratulations to Mark and his team for creating a very special camp.

Quite simply the best place we have ever stayed.
The location, the views, the accommodation, the communal areas, the food, the level of service and the staff all contribute to an amazing and unforgettable experience.
When planning our trip (we were a group of 3 couples) owner Chloe was heavily involved in advising and booking the internal flights between Zanzibar and the park. Nothing was too much trouble. Any questions we had were quickly dealt with and responded to.
Upon arrival in the camp Tommy & Chevy and the whole Ikuka team take that customer service to another level.
They really have thought of everything, from a lovely cool face flannel handed to you upon returning to the camp in the midday heat, to a warm soothing flannel when returning at the end of the day once the temperatures have started to drop. Similarly cool refreshing juice drinks and warming liqueurs hit the spot every time.
Every meal is presented and described by the team and their pride in the appearance and taste shines through. Guests can choose to dine as a collective or individually. The team will be involved as much or as little as you want.
You will not leave Ikuka thinking “this/that could have been better”….. it couldn’t!
The main reason for going obviously is the animals and Ikuka more than deliver on that front also. Festo was our guide and his knowledge and passion for Ruaha and the wildlife is both impressive and infectious.
Amazing bush breakfasts and sundowners are just another of his many talents. He can literally talk to the animals by mimicking many sounds/noises/calls.
We managed to see every animal on our wish list including Leopard, Lion, Elephant, Giraffe, Crocodile, Hippo, Zebra, Buffalo, Baboon, Hyena, Ostrich and literally hundreds of different types of birds.
We all had such an amazing experience at Ikuka that we didn’t want to leave.
We guarantee you won’t want to leave either!
Special thanks again to Tommy & Chevy for providing the best experience of our lives.
Keep doing what you’re doing…. it’s perfect xx

We stayed at Ikuka as the second stop on our amazing honeymoon trip to Tanzania, after a stop in Nyerere. We were welcomed so warmly by Tommy, Chevy and the whole Ikuka family right from arrival. The views from the camp are amazing and the suites and communal areas are so beautiful and tastefully decorated.

We had a great time on game drives in the beautiful, quiet and wild Ruaha park, with our expert guide Luka taking us and and a couple of other guests to some wonderful spots, sharing his extensive knowledge along the way. We had some amazing leopard and lion sightings (on one morning tracking lions from fresh prints in the dust) as well as the increasingly rare wild dogs. There were times when we would ride around for hours and hardly see another vehicle, it was wonderful. While we were here we also went on a fabulous ballon ride (separate review!)

This is a small and social camp - we enjoyed talking with our fellow guests and our hosts over an evening drink and at a communal dinner table. That said, we also loved having dinner just the two of us under the night sky on one of our evenings. The team is flexible on how you enjoy your dinner, and we enjoyed both! The food here, from bush breakfast to lunch and dinner at camp, was excellent (also noting a gluten free dietary requirement) with lots of variety in the set menu and plenty of lovely fresh fruit and vegetables.

Thanks again to all the team for such a special and memorable stay.

    AMAZING!
We've been to a lot of places around the world and without a doubt nothing touches Ikuka Safari Camp.
Every attention to detail was thought of. The actual location is beyond words. The staff, the animals, the remoteness. We went to the four seasons after and Ikuka was many levels above in every part of the experience.
Mark & Chloe, Chevy, Geoffrey, all of the staff. Amazing service and first class in every way.
I do not think that visiting Ikuka is a recommendation. It's a MUST!!!
    Cannot wait to go back.

In all honesty, Ikuka is beyond words but I’ll try.
Luxurious, impeccable service and attention to detail, stunning location, extraordinary game drives. The food is delicious, the rooms exquisite (especially Honda Honda) and the pool area so relaxing.

However, what will stay with me for ever is the people. We were a three generation family group including 4 kids (9, 11 and 12) and were made to feel so welcome that it felt like home.
The staff were so kind to the children and they taught them so much about wildlife, the bush and life in Tanzania.

Huge shout out to our guide Idris who made every drive special, interesting and different and never tired of answering questions from the children. Alfred was also wonderful and patiently waited an hour for us to come for breakfast while we watched the Wild Dogs. He had been watching them too from a little further up the river and was just as excited as we were.

Tommy and Chevy are fantastic hosts/managers and they (and all the staff) so obviously love and care so deeply for this lesser known National Park and its wildlife.

Thank you all for making our stay so special and memorable. Cannot recommend Ikuka highly enough for a luxury Tanzanian safari away from the crowds.
