Beautiful views and interesting fynbos with multiple hiking trails. During the week, it was very quiet with only a few cars. The Palmiet River trail was lovely but way too long. Rated as "easy", this meant no major elevation changes but there were rocky patches in spots that made walking difficult. We were supposed to finish in 3 hrs but after 2 hrs when we hadn't reached the midpoint, we gave up and took the "emergency exit" that hooked us up with a trail back.

Kogelberg is a nature reserve located in the mountains near Kleinmond in the Western Cape. There are a number of hiking trails that are not to challenging.
The Kogelberg trail is a long full day hike of 24 kilometer that takes you right around a mountain. All paths are clearly laid out and marked. You will see stunning waterfalls and will need to cross a number of streams while hiking this trail.
There is also a shorter trail called the Palmiet trail and this trail can also be included in the Kogelberg trail if you have enough time.
There is also a one way trail to the Harold Porter botanical garden which also offers stunning views.
Accommodation is also available on the reserve in 5 Eco friendly houses.
