Ask any of our friends and they will tell you we like to holiday a lot, but my oh my, our stay at Lux Grand Gaube is most definitely up there in our top 3! Every moment of every day was just lovely. The hotel itself is stunning, the views from everywhere are spectacular and the staff are the friendliest, happiest 'family' of people we have ever come across.
After the long flight and then about an hours transfer time I was feeling a little jaded at 7:00 am when we arrived to say the least. We were welcomed and offered coffee whilst we were checked in. We were then informed that our suite was still occupied until 11:00 am and would then need to be cleaned, so we could use the courtesy room to shower and change until our room was ready. This was totally understandable and we never said a word but maybe I just looked really tired because the next minute we were told they would find us another available room so we could go and have a sleep whilst we waited for our room to become available. This was amazing, we were both exhausted and it was very much appreciated.
Later that day we transferred to our Prestige Junior Suite. Stunning. All the rooms look amazing but we both agreed that having this suite added another level of wonderful moments for us. We were in 7001. After being out on the beach for most of the day we would come back to our suite to watch the sunset, either from the comfy armchairs, sunbeds, the hot tub or the outdoor bath which was just amazing.
We were on the all inclusive package, the only extras we paid for was a tray charge for in room dining which is 500 rupees per tray, 2 visits to Inti, a speciality Gin and the Barefoot BBQ on the beach. The food everywhere was delicious. We ate at all the venues, our favourites were the burgers at BB's, everything at Inti and the ribs at Creole Smokehouse. The selection of food available in the Palm Court buffet was very good, the quality excellent, our only very minor niggle was that sometimes especially at breakfast rather than dinner the hot food was sometimes not as hot as we would have liked, but this didn't affect our enjoyment at all.
As part of our anniversary package we had a massage at the spa which was lovely, a cookery class which was good fun and a romantic meal served around the pool in the evening, a bottle of fizz in the room and some cakes. There are so many little touches at this hotel that I found myself most days noticing things that just make you smile.
All of the staff were brilliant, too many to name but the service was excellent without exception.
If you are looking for a break to relax, de-stress and re-connect then you can't go wrong with Lux Grand Gaube. We had read all the really good reviews before we booked, you then start to worry that you may be disappointed because you have such great expectations but I can honestly say it was even better than we were hoping for.
Thank you to the whole team for making our Silver Wedding Anniversary a truly magical experience that we will remember forever x
