We've just had a weeks last minute holiday here and had a relaxing holiday which is all we wanted .The hotel is not a 5 star standard as compared to ones I've visited before . The hotel is very clean ,we enjoyed the food and the separate 3 restaurants, the staff are polite and very hard working .We had 2 rooms ,a suite and a double ,we found the beds very comfortable and the rooms large enough ,we were in the rooms overlooking the new hotel being built ,we did ask for a move and was told we could in 2 days when they would be available but we didn't bother as the noise was minimal and we basically couldn't be bothered. ..we were in rooms 10 16 and 1017 . We found sunbeds at 9 ish everyday but never in same spot as best spots reserved! ! We tended to go for a bed on the outskirts as by the pool it was like sardines. The pool was clean and large enough ,there were a few tiles missing and could do with some work on it ,we enjoyed a few beers at the swim up bar . The beach was lovely and we walked to the bar to the left and had a lovely lunch there . The drinks were ok and never a problem getting served .The entertainment team worked hard ,the shows were basically miming to songs but they put lots of effort into them .I would come here again for a week, we came to relax and it ticked all the boxes for the price we paid .Thank you rui karamboa

Landed in Boavista on the 18th June and stayed at the Riu Karamboa. The Mrs had emailed ahead when we booked the hotel asking for a high room and that it was our honeymoon. We decided to take a taxi from the airport to beat the queues. When we arrived at the Karamboa we were greeted with a glass of punch and welcoming reception staff. We were delighted to be upgraded to a suite too. At this point we were asked to leave our luggage in reception and it will be delivered to our suite.
We did not realise the size of the resort until we started our walk to our room, it is massive. The grounds of the hotel are kept very clean and well maintained, as are the hall ways to your rooms. We arrived to our suite to be greeted to a good sized suite with a lounge going on to the balcony, a bathroom with a separate toilet and a bath with a shower over. The bedroom was massive with plenty of wardrobe space and hangers. In the wardrobe there is also a safe which is free to use. Large TV with plenty of channels to have on whilst you get ready.
The pool is massive there are plenty of loungers but unfortunately this is spoilt by the people who put their towels on to reserve them but never appear to use them. Beach towels are provided by the hotel, they give you a card to exchange for towels remember to collect your card from the towel guy before you check out. Pool bar is lovely perfect location between the pool and beach. The restaurants are very clean and plenty to choose from. Remember to get booked in to the themed restaurants when you check in as they get booked up very quick and you need to book 3 days prior. The drinks selection is ok not great same with the beer it was ok for the first few days. The entertainment was good for a few nights. There are 3 bars to go to outside of the hotel, on to the beach and left about 25 minute walk or 30-40 minutes turn right and there are two bars. The last few days of the holiday the weather got better but this seemed to encourage the flies. All in all it was a gorgeous resort and lovely island. Perfect for a week's holiday.

Spent 11 days in the Hotel Karamboa. Very clean, welcoming and excellent friendly staff from the receptionists to the house keepers and pool staff. Always a good choice of food on offer and although the entertainment could get to be a bit 'samey' (although right up my daughters street) plenty of room to sit and enjoy a drink in the other areas. One thing I wished I had done, get the name of the Cape Verde musicians who entertained us a couple of times, excellent, if anyone knows please tell me.

Me and my wife arrived back on the 18th June after a lovely 2 week break.
We emailed previously asking for a sea view if possible as it was our 21st wedding anniversary in which they arranged for us as well as a bottle of champagne and a card which was a great touch.
The hotel was only 3-4 mins from airport which was great after a 6 hour flight with nothing to do on it. (I advise to take a book or iPad to watch film to kill the time)
Once arriving at airport we checked in very quick and our bags where delivered to our room within 5/10 mins which we then got changed and went to the pool ( and pool bar)
The hotel was immaculate and consistently being cleaned including the grounds. The people who work there are so friendly day in day out.
The animation team do not stop all day and not too pushy getting you to do activities apart from the 1 who did the water aerobics who was a bit too personal about people’s body shapes but just ignore him.
The evening shows which where run by the animation team which they mimed Along to the music but the dance routines they did where awesome.
They had a couple of shows a week with live singers which where excellent too.
We visited the karaoke bar a few times which was fun with a-lot of excellent singers and people just having fun. The club we visited once with some friends we met and had fun considering we are in our late forties we where last ones on the dance floor when the lights came on and closed.
The food was great plenty of choice for everyone.
We chose to eat breakfast each day at pool side restaurant for convenience.
We visited all 3 themed restaurants Cape Verde, African and Asian with the latter our favourite once again plenty of choice. Drinks where plentiful and fine.
Beach was excellent clean and tidy and we went into the sea with the amber flag up allowing us go in just beware of riptides.
The only downside we would say is the condition of the pool with a lot of tiles missing/broken with a lot of people cutting their feet including myself. We where initially going to the toeurag hotel but swapped after hearing maintenance work was taking place and some pools closing whilst we where there.
I know a new hotel is being built next to the karamboa so hopefully they will repair all the pool tiles when this opens.
We went on the sunset dinner trip with TUI which was great a lovely 3 course meal with 3 drinks included.
I was a bit surprised the weather wasn’t a bit hotter with blue skies as we had a lot of cloudy days ((I know the hotel can not control the weather just my opinion) it was breezy most days and a bit cool in the evening I’d advise to pack a cardigan or jacket if you feel the cold.
My wife suggested the hair dryer in the room could be better as not powerful enough. (Once again just an individual opinion)
Overall it was a lovely hotel with great people in which we relaxed by the pool each day.
When we arrived home we found that some items had been stolen from our suitcases (perfume/after shave) from the airport which was disappointing as we only bought them on the way out.
I’d advise make sure you put padlocks on your cases when you go there.
We didn’t claim on our travel insurance as a £50 excess each was in place and the stuff stolen only totalled £100 so pointless. We did contact TUI but told after they looked into it that unless it was damaged they couldn’t do anything
To finish up its a lovely place for a quiet relaxing holiday as nothing else much to do which we knew before we went.
And that’s what we did.
Many thanks to all of the hotel staff who looked after us.

Just returned from a weeks stay. So glad i listened to the positive reviews and ignored the picky negative ones. Transfer from the airport is the quickest ive ever had approx 3 mins 40 seconds. Check in was very quick, greeted with a refreshing drink and given all info needed! ALL staff are friendly work hard and ensure the "no stress" moto is exactly what you experience. Lots of choice at the restaurants, if you cant find something you like then you have the issue not the hotel! Rooms large, cleaned daily! Pool is ice cold but a great way to cool down, dont let the cloudy mornings fool you the UV index is high!the beach is one of the best ive seen and i have been to several islands in the carribean! Did the sunset dinner excursion, was cheaper to book in england, but well worth the money, good food, great entertainment and lovely views. All in all a fantastic holiday, already looking at when we can return. Ignore negative reviews you wont be disappointed.
