We are so happy we booked at the Montauk Blue. Our oceanfront rooms were perfect with a microwave and refrigerator. You could not get any closer to the ocean and the indoor pool was terrific. Location is amazing. Just a short walk to town with many stores. Cindy and Carolina at the front desk were so friendly and accommodating. We have been coming to Montauk for many years but this will be our new hotel. Thank you.

Am delighted that "Montauk Blue" or maybe, we'll simply call it "The Blue" is your new favorite spot!

Love hearing that my staff is friendly, accommodating and EVERYTHING was to your liking! GREAT feedback!

Thank you so very much!!

We chose this hotel for its location and pool; both were as good as we expected. As some of the other reviewers have said, it's more or less just a motel. The staff was super friendly, the room was updated and clean, the beach view was perfect. We chose to visit in late August and the rate felt a bit steep but matched other offers we found for this time of year. We stayed on the second floor and loved the balcony. We were able to walk to restaurants and shops from the hotel, which was really nice. If we visit Montauk again, we would consider staying here but we'd likely choose to go at a quieter time.

I'm glad that your visit to Montauk Blue satisfactorily met your expectations with regards to our in-town location, direct beach access with waterfront views, friendly staff and updated/clean rooms.

July and August are very busy months but otherwise, Montauk does have a slower pace particularly after Labor Day in September which is perhaps, the loveliest time of the year!

Great location right on the beach, the rooms are clean, well furnished and equiped. However this is essentially a motel building and constructed very cheaply, we could hear footsteps from the room above late into the night and children next door early the next day - resulting in a terible nights sleep. Very expennsive for what it is, but we did stay in August and this is Montauk, other properties equally expensive.
No resturant breakfast facility on site, shame the pool is road side not looking onto the beach.

Having now read, way too many times, that Montauk Blue is really a "Motel," I think it should simply be called "The Blue", which is its affectionately called, local nickname anyway.

"The Blue" or "Blue" seems like a cool idea to me. I won't have to argue or give, one more time, Webster's definition, that real "motels," by definition are 1960's era one-story structures built on the side of main highways where a traveler stops, usually for one night on the long stretch of road, driving from somewhere to another non-descript location.

Relief to see that this visitor realizes Hamptons summer rates are pricey and all are expensive! But "very cheap" overall construction is not the reason for poor sleep due to "foot steps from room above late into the night." This is the result, in some cases of poor ceiling insulation which is definitely not positive but clearly mentioned in man of our reviews when asking "second floor" room is often suggested.

Ditto on the surprised guests who repeatedly criticize our lack of in-house dining facilities! Neither of these above negative comments should be a surprise to any guest who has done his/her due diligence and read the very thorough and accurate, Trip Advisor reviews.

The room was clean, bed and bathroom. My girlfriend finds it very important. We loved the 1min walk to the beach and the pool during the evening. We are definitely coming back, this is our favorite spot in Montauk

I stayed at the Montauk Blue Hotel recently. This place gets high points for location. This hotel sits right on the beach and it is just a block or so away from restaurants, and shopping. Most of the rooms face toward the ocean. We stayed in room 409 (queen ocean view) . It was on the second floor above the check-in area. The room was clean and thankfully the air conditioner was turned on prior to our arrival. The balcony was plain with two resin chairs and a small resin table. There was a tiny fridge and microwave hidden in the cabinet and a keurig on the dresser. The blankets and mattress were comfortable however the pillows were a bit stiff (could be a matter of preference). The place could use some cosmetic updating and repair but other than that, I was not disappointed.

Pros: Location, right on the beach facing the ocean and just a short walk to dining and shopping. Clean and well kept (put a sign on the door for maid service and by the time we were back from breakfast and shopping, the room was cleaned). The check-in staff were friendly and helpful.

Cons: Steep stairs up to second floor (quite cumbersome with a large suitcase). Layout. Our room (409) was on the far end of the establishment and the pool, ice machine, picnic tables and chairs were on the other end. Made it inconvenient to refill ice-bin or utilize the chairs.

Summary: It's clean, comfortable and perfectly located if you NEED an ocean view (I do) and desire easy access to the town and all that it has to offer. It comes at a price however but then again, Montauk is not known for its economical lodgings. You can find cheaper hotels, motels, in Montauk, but not on the beach or ones that will have a view. They may be a bit cheaper, but if you love a cup of coffee, while watching the waves crash onto the shore, from your own private balcony, then this is the place for you.
