We went on a family holiday to Umngazi. Although we heard many good stories about Umngazi it exceeded all our expectations. Food was great, so many activities for the kids, beautiful hikes, fishing, etc. Definitely a holiday to add to your bucket list.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our beds were so comfortable: our rooms were beautifully appointed: the gardens were well kept: the staff was super friendly and the food was delicious!! It was so good that you entertained our grandchildren so often and we also loved our Booze Cruise.

I can't recommend a stay at Umngazi enough, friendly, welcoming staff, beautiful rooms, glorious showers, delicious food and the list goes on. The children loved every minute too and the attention to detail is off the charts. The location is unmatched, offering endless beaches, river cruises, hikes and running trails. The gym was well equipped and perfect for a holiday workout. I loved the spa too, the therapists were great and it has the most unbelievable views. Take me back!

With Simbo we bookend and paid deposit and after a view days of confirming we were upgraded from river view to sea view honeymoon suite (thanks Umngazi once again). Honeymoon suite obviously comes with its own benefits which we could also enjoy like a private pool/jacuzzi area and private breakfast/high tea area. We felt welcome since we arrived until we left. The service is exceptional with very friendly staff up to Management. Breakfast and dinner food selection is great with lunch being a buffet with a huge selection. Excellent wine & alcohol selection. For me and the wife this was the ultimate Transkei/wild coast experience and a bucket list item a must go for anyone. Unspoiled area with an unspoiled beach.
Only letdown: bacon and pork sausage served for breakfast are not from a butcher you can taste it is Eskort or Enterprise. No Wi-Fi at the rooms. Wood provided for the fireplace is wet. We ordered a private dinner with a sea food platter, don't get me wrong it was awesome and value for money for R600 per person however one will think they will serve a fresh crayfish caught at Umngazi rather than a lobster bought that was frozen for a while.

I can assure you that we purchase all supplies from reputable and sustainable suppliers. Our processed meats and seafood are purchased from a family business and not a large chain. For the quantities required by a full hotel, it was not sustainable sourcing seafood and crayfish locally in a very sensitive environment. We rated this family holiday as our best ever (mom, dad & two teenage boys). The location is breathtaking, and the hotel a real treat in terms of rooms, food and facilities. It's an outdoor enthusiast's paradise with unbeatable hiking, beach walks, kayaking and fishing. I'd like to particularly commend the staff on their catering to specific dietary needs. My vegan request was met with a variety of tasty choices at every meal. The drinks pricing was also fair which we appreciated. We loved our week at Umngazi.
