We rated this family holiday as our best ever (mom, dad & two teenage boys). The location is breathtaking, and the hotel a real treat in terms of rooms, food and facilities. It's an outdoor enthusiast's paradise with unbeatable hiking, beach walks, kayaking and fishing. I'd like to particularly commend the staff on their catering to specific dietary needs. My vegan request was met with a variety of tasty choices at every meal. The drinks pricing was also fair which we appreciated. We loved our week at Umngazi.

Our family recently spent 5 glorious nights at Umngazi. We drove there from Cape Town which was quite an adventure in itself. The roads in the far Eastern Cape were not great and littered with potholes, stop gos and animals. However arriving at Umngazi made the long, sometimes hair raising trip worthwhile. What a beautiful part of our country to visit. The staff were warm, friendly and helpful. The fully catered meals were mostly good and there was something at Umngazi for everyone. My husband and I enjoyed a sunset cruise one evening, a beautiful walk along the coast to Sugar Loaf and some stand up paddleboarding on the river. Our 14 year old had an absolute blast with the friends she met there and did not want the holiday to end. Our lovely, river facing family rooms were far away enough from the restaurant and main area to be peaceful. We enjoyed watching birds in the gardens and reading on the patio outside our room. I would highly recommend Umngazi Hotel especially for families with children.
