This was my third stay at High Peaks. The decor has deteriorated a little over the years, but it’s still nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful. None of them seem to be too thrilled with their new computer system though. They complained about how slow it was both at Check-in and Check-out. The rooms are a good size. The panel door on the bathroom doesn’t provide much privacy, if you care about that kind of thing. The lobby is huge band has great sitting areas. The fireflies lit sporadically. It would have been nice to keep it going because it was cold and wet out during our stay.
The Dancing Bear restaurant is convenient. The breakfast selection is good and is reasonably priced.
One “con”. We checked in on a Sunday just after a big hockey tournament checked out. The lobby and other public areas were badly in need of cleaning and vacuuming. Someone dropped an ice cream bar on the stairway out to Main St and it sat there til Monday. If you’re know you’re going to have large groups, plan on having a housekeeping staff there to clean up, even if it’s Sunday.
We’ll definitely stay here again. More
