I was shocked to read what I consider to be a spiteful review entitled Creeped Out By Memsahib, especially as i have been travelling the world since I was two weeks old and know what I am talking about. Thank goodness other reviewers gave a much more accurate account of their experience at this wonderful guesthouse, where my friend and I stayed earlier this week.

We too were met at the roadside above the guesthouse by Doreen, Rashid and other members of their family, who greeted us with genuine warmth and enthusiasm. Our luggage was taken down to the house by Jack, the cuddly, much loved family donkey, while we followed on foot.

What a joy it was to go through the wooden door and enter the cool, authentically decorated guesthouse, lovingly restored by Doreen and Rashid. We had a drink in the courtyard under a vine strewn canopy and, later, a delicious dinner by candlelight. Our en suite bedrooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean and we both slept extremely well. The following morning we walked through the palmeraie (oasis), under palm trees and flowering shrubs, where the local Berbers were tending their plots. A few minutes more and we reached the river with its sparkling, clear water, fed by the famous and spectacular Todra Gorge just up the road. We had breakfast on the flat roof terrace of the guest house, with its spectacular views over the oasis and the bare mountains beyond.

If you lead a hectic, stress filled life at home this is the place for you. The peace and silence in the palmeraie and on the guesthouse roof, punctuated only by the sound of birdsong, was life enhancing, as was the warmth and kindness of the staff and the owner.

We stayed in this guesthouse on our way to Todra Gorge. On our arrival at night, we were waited for by one of the owners by the road, as the place could be easily missed when arriving by car. We were very thankful for that, as we did not specify what time we would come, and the owner had to wait for us for more than one hour. The guesthouse is about 50 steps down from the main road, which you would not probably appreciate at night, but the more fascinating will be your view after wakign up, when you realize you are sleeping in the middle of Palm grove. The rooms are basic, but cozy. The guesthouse feels very homey and as we were the only guests in October (outside main season), we spent the whole evening with the owners in their "living room", chatting about everything:). When one of the brothers who own the guesthouse offered us a home-made dinner, we didn't know what to expect, but we received five-star tajine, probably our best in Morocco!!! The brothers gave us a lot of good trip advices - you should definitely spend some time in the palmeraie and check the crumbling Kasbahs in the Palmeraie. The breakfast was served on the roof terrace with astonishing views of palms and old Kasbahs.

The only disadvantage can be a little cold in the rooms at winter time, but couple blankets that are ready on your bed will do. The value was absolutely amazing. We definitely recommend this guesthouse.

Five women friends traveling together in October enjoyed a refreshing and comfortable overnight stay at this charming guesthouse. The friendly staff offered a warm welcome and delicious lunch and dinner. The fresh dates from the palm trees were luscious! The guest rooms were pleasant and the public rooms charming. The location very close to Todhra Gorge and Tinghir was perfect for visiting the area. The setting amidst the palms was enchanting, and the terrace provided a peaceful vista of the surrounding landscape. Our host spoke excellent English and made us feel very welcome.

Room Tip: This guesthouse would make a good base for exploring the region.

This place is in close proximity to the Oasis, you could take a donkey ride to the place. The hosts are very charming and very helpful.
