Pros:
(1) Ideally situated in Port Mathurin. 5 mins walk away from the Market & Sea Port (main attractions in the Capital) and also several food outlets are available nearby for lunch (no dinner because they are all close at night in Port Mathurin).
(2) Friendly staff
Cons:
(1) The hotel does nothing to discourage guests from making noise! During my stay there was some large families staying and they (kids, the teenagers and surprisingly the adults as well!) knock on each other doors or rather bang the doors and shout the whole night up until midnight to 1am! In addition, in early morning, as early as 5:30am, now it’s the turn for the adults who’ve been able to wake up who will bang the doors and shout at their relatives to wake up. They simply don’t care that there are other people in holidays who don’t want to wake up that early! I overheard other guests complaining about this. What’s worse is that the hotel management does not seem to do anything to prevent this kind of disturbances and turn a blind eye (or rather ear) on this.
(2) The bathroom sink is not well designed, it’s not easy to use and can be quite disgusting to wash your hands and brush your teeth because your hand keeps touching the sink as the water falls to near it. Please refer to photo posted.
(3) The dinner which is supposed to be a buffet is controlled by the staff and the portions served are small. When you ask for more, they will give you very little additional food (literally 1 spoon of the food you asked) and when you again ask for more, they’ll again give you 1 spoon or even less of the thing you asked. For this also I overheard other guests complaining about the quantity of food. Whether on holidays or on business trip you don’t want to sleep hungry! Clearly this looks like a management strategy to cut costs on the food – really unwise one!! So despite having the dinner in my package, I preferred to dine out that is drive some 5 mins to restaurants at Anse aux Anglais to have some proper dinner.
(4) Wifi connection is a big yet another big issue in the rooms. It is that slow that the web pages would not load. You will have to go in the corridor and stand at most 3 metres of the router to to be able to surf and just to give you an idea it takes ages to upload a photo on TripAdvisor or other social media, yes, it is that slow.
For the kind of services being offered, the tariff of Rs2,000 per night is way too expensive. (no good sleep, disgusting sink, not adequate food and very poor wifi connection).
My only recommendation: AVOID this hotel
