The Kariba Dam was constructed in the late 1950's and serves as a Hydroelectric dam for generation of electricity for the Zambia and Zimbabwe. It also serves as a bridge connecting Zambia to Zimbabwe. It is an interesting place to visit whenever you are in Siavonga. The Dam serves as a boarder crossing between Zambia and Zimbabwe and hence to visit you must carry some form of identification. The view from the Dam wall is magnificent as you can see both Lake Kariba and the Zambezi River Gorge. This is a must see attraction if you are in Siavonga.
