We stayed at this hotel because it was within proximity of Bear Mountain State Park and Resorts World (new Casino by Monticello, NY). The owner was friendly and concerned about his guests and that is what we expect wherever we stay. The room itself wasn't bad for two nights stay and the price wasn't bad considering it was the Metro New York area. But the room itself could have done with a makeover as it looked like it seen better days. The things we noticed: outlets in which the covers were coming off (electrical hazard) and there was a dead ant in the bathroom (I mentioned the ant to the owner after we checked out and he said he would look after it). In addition: The bed was a little to hard and it was high off the ground (we both have back issues) and the TV remote was hard to figure out. Breakfast choices were mostly starch items with little other choices offered. Obviously we were not expecting Four Seasons, but if a Comfort Inn was in the area and the price was right, we would have taken that. Overall, we only needed a place to sleep and a convenient location base in which to do our sightseeing, so the hotel most certainly did the job in that area. If the owner decides to look into the above things mentioned notifies me that these issues have been addressed, then we would not hesitate to stay here again.
