“Wonderful relaxing stay!”
Reviewed 8 March 2017 for a stay in March 2017

This cottage was the perfect weekend getaway, in a great location! The cottage had everything we could have asked for, it was so warm and cozy! The kitchen was a great asset as well so we were able to cook breakfast each day. The owners gave us a great recommendation to check out the StoneCat Cafe down the road Friday night when we checked in, the food was amazing, they had great live bands and the atmosphere was so welcoming. I kept mentioning all weekend how much I loved the hot water in the faucets! Something some may not think of, but every time I turned the faucets on I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly it became warm/hot -especially on a cold weekend it was wonderful! I loved everything about it, and we have said we definitely would make a trip back to stay again!

Everything one could want in a shabby chic doll house! Rural and rustic but super fun things nearby. Ellen and Jeremy hooked us up with a fire set up for us in the fire pit out in the woods. Best of all worlds. Felt like we stumbled upon a real gem. ❤️

“The Cottagette has its ups and downs, but is overall a great time!”
Reviewed 25 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

The Good: This place is worth it for the gorge in the backyard alone. Ellen and Jeremy gave us full use of all of their grounds (firepit, pond, backyard, and the stream with their very own little 'gorge'). We enjoyed taking the short (but sometimes steep and rocky - be careful) walk to the 'gorge'. It was breathtakingly beautiful. We made coffee in the cottage with the fresh coffee beans (bonus!), and brought down our thermal mugs filled with java. We sat on the almost too perfect ledges (very shallow) and ate our muffins and drank our coffee while basking in the sun and listening and watching the birds bathe and play in the stream. We kicked off our shoes and walked upstream to a gorgeous and massive stone bridge. This place is photographer's dream. This was most definitely our favorite part of our stay. Other things we enjoyed were the board games provided, and old movies. The proximity of the Cottagette to local wineries and vineyards was ideal. I don't think we could have picked a better location. Of course, our hosts (Ellen and Jeremy) were wonderful too. They gave us our privacy, but were available for anything we might need. The Cottagette was well equipped with pots, pans, extra towels, containers, dish soap, books, towels, toiletries, and even mints on our pillows upon arrival (adorable touch). The wide plank wood floors and eclectic collection of decorations brought a charming touch to the place. We had no issues with the cable, the DVD player, wifi, or any appliances provided.

The bad: I'd like to say that although the building itself is in need of some improvements, we had an excellent time. So, upon arrival we got settled in and noticed a not-so-pleasant odor... (fishy smell). We chalked it up to the old air conditioner that was in the window. It didn't smell horrible, just not pleasant. It was an old air conditioner which worked very well, but I think that could be the culprit. Another small issue was there were some ants and spiders, (which is to be expected out in the country... so I can't complain really). The water is fed from a natural spring. Although Ellen and Jeremy assured us they have been drinking it for 30 years, we did not feel comfortable drinking it. My husband tried it, and said it didn't taste very pleasant. We purchased some bottled water, and solved that 'problem' easily. The plumbing seemed to work fine, was just very noisy. The only thing I think we really did not enjoy was the smell, and the smell of the towels. We would normally bring our own, but happened to forget them this trip. We used the ones provided, which I'm sure were clean, but had a stale smell. We read the previous reviews about the uncomfortable bedding, so we decided to bring our mattress topper, and found that we had no issue with that.

Overall, we had an excellent time, and it was a pleasure to stay here. Ellen and Jeremy were a fun duo. We would definitely stay again.

When owners are only consistently told by their guests how wonderful and enjoyable their stay is, with never a mention of any negatives, it's impossible for owners to address anything during that stay, and quite disheartening to read a public statement about dissatisfactions that were never voiced privately. Nonetheless, we take every review seriously. We are addressing these concerns and are also installing a new air conditioner.

Bring your clothes and toothbrush...everything else except your meals can be found in this sweet little cottage. If you wish to eat in all the utensils you would need are clean and of exceptional quality. Your hosts Ellen and Jeremy are friendly and accommodating. Quiet lovely setting with paths to walk on or just relax on the back deck or hammock. There is even a sweet little diner within walking distance from your cottage where delicious eggs are cooked to perfection. The furnishings are a rare collection of quirky and whimsical curio finds.

The cottage is located on the Wine Trails and close enough to Watkins Glen for dinner, Viewing the Glen and hiding or birdwatching at Catharine Marsh and well as the NASCAR racing track.

Nice little place to stay, close to many winerys and watkin glens. Enjoyed the quiet and peacefulness that the cottage had. Meet the owners as we checked in, very nice people. What you see is what you get no fancy pools or inflated price that you find in a large hotel. The cottage had just about everything one would need for a getaway, from dishes, pots and pans to a grill. I would go back again with out a doubt.
