We were a group of four staying at our first bush camp. Everyone here, King, Claude, Sebastian, Cornelius and Dophus, made us feel that we had come home. We slept at night with the sound of hippos in the background. Elephants walked through our camp in the evenings. The food was excellent. The service outstanding. I will always remember hot coffee around the campfire in the cool of the mornings. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We spent 3 days and 2 nights in this wonderfully set out riverside camp. Perhaps not quite as luxurious as some of the other camps, but still extremely comfortable. In addition, this is more than compensated not only by the magnificent surroundings and setting, but also by the great atmosphere and hospitable staff as well as the excellent guides. Welcomed by the singing camp staff, we had most enjoyable stay and superb game drives. The walking safari with KING was out of this world, as was the canoo-experience on the Zambezi. Thank you Host DOPHAS and guides KING and CLOUD for a fantastic experience.

Hi inneborelrinkes,

Thank you so much for your kind review of your stay at Zambezi Expeditions. We are absolutely thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your safari with African Bush Camps. While Zambezi Expeditions is one of our more rustic camps, it is also one of our most loved. It has an unbeatable view of the mighty Zambezi and one of the best teams in the industry that make each and every guest feel like part of the family. Mana Pools is one of the best places on the planet for a walking safari and also for canoeing. Having excellent guides, like King and Cloud, lead the way, turns Mana Pools into explorers paradise and an extraordinary safari experience.
I will be sure to pass on your kind words to the whole team in camp.
We hope that you will join us again soon!
Until then, take care and very best wishes,
The African Bush Camps Team

I’ve very recently returned from a two-week holiday in Zimbabwe with my two grown-up sons, Fabian (27) and Oliver (24) to celebrate my 50th birthday. My expectations were high. They were not merely matched; they were surpassed time and time again.

From the point at which Cloud, our superb guide, met us at the air strip to the time three days later when he handed us over to Nyelli for the next stage of our adventure at Kanga, we had a magnificently wild and varied adventure in the bush and on the river.

Highlights? Elephants playing and bathing in the natural pool just metres away from the dining tent. Eyeing the hippos that popped their heads up to study us as we made our serene way down the Zambezi by canoe. The two fish eagles, deep in hunting concentration, which we crept up to on our guided walk. Over half a tonne of magnificent bull eland in the distance. A monitor lizard the size of a medium-sized crocodile on the riverbank in front of our tent. Hyenas whooping and cackling in the small hours as they attempted to ransack the camp kitchen. The tens of different bird species, so many of them new to us, which we tried our best to identify with the expert assistance of Cloud and the other camp staff.

Highlights? The enthusiasm, service-mindedness and expertise of all those who worked in Zambezi Expeditions. The meals and drinks were delicious and the service was impeccable throughout. Perhaps it’s unfair to single out individuals by name – after all, everyone played their part – but (and forgive my spelling) during Dofus’s absence, Sabastian was a gentle, good-natured and engaging host; Cloud was excellent, both on land and on the river; the other guides all played their part; and for those of us longing to find out the World Cup results, our nightly, handwritten updates proved that all concerned were willing to go the extra mile.

The beauty and tranquillity of the scenery. WiFi-free (an indisputable plus), the evenings consisted of great food and drink, campfire stories, and Cloud’s introduction to the African sky at night .

A warm thank you to all who made days two to four of our dream holiday so special.

Room tip: Look out for the small things; the big things will take care of themselves!

We are absolutely thrilled to hear that you and your sons had such a wonderful time on safari with African Bush Camps. It sounds as though you experienced it all and truly took advantage of this explorers paradise. We stayed in this camp at different seasons of the year. Wether rainy or dry - it's always worth going there. Very close up with wild animals, very friendly and knowledgable guides, great safari, all tents with river view, spectacular romantic moments at sunset and -falls. Comfortable tents with all the needs you can imagine in the middle of nowhere. Fantastic food you would never dream of. Absolutely outstanding and overwhelming safari experience!

Room tip: all tents are the same

The fantastic location on the banks of the Zambezi and the unparalleled wildlife experience of Mana Pools make Zambezi Expeditions one of the most incredible safari experiences. However, it is truly the team in camp and our guides who make Zambezi Expeditions so phenomenal. Their passion and knowledge ensure your journey with African Bush Camps is the very best safari experience available.
