Weekend break

Unforgettable stay.
Significant improvement over the already good setting I enjoyed 8 years ago. Staff, game drivers, boat riders, waiters, all did amazingly well, proactive attention to guests, etc. Rooms are fantastic, hard to bit in comfort, space and scenic view.

This beautiful Lodge has been totally redone by African Bush Camps. It is lovely, with great decoration, beautiful landscaping, great food, wonderful staff, and experienced guides. We had Madison as our guide. He was great. We visited his home village with him and toured a homestead, one of the schools (which has classrooms built by African Bush Camps Foundation), a general store, and attended a soccer scrimmage at the high school. A wonderful experience with a local who knew everyone. The villagers are hard workers, have a sense of community and pride in their homes.

We did Sundowners on the Lake in a boat which were fantastic. The sunsets over the lake were spectacular. We saw incredible wild and bird life. A wonderful place!

This upscale luxury lodge enjoys a prime elevated position of the shores on the huge Lake Kariba, one of the largest man made lakes in the world. The first thing that happens when you walk past the lobby and onto the infinity pool and garden area is to pick up your jaw from the floor, and take in the stunning panoramic views over the lake and watch the elephants, hippos and buffalo wading in and out of the water along the shoreline.

The instagram worthy infinity pool overlooking the lake is the perfect place to spend a few hours in between the morning and afternoon safaris either chilling poolside below the shady trees or in the pool, gazing over the endless horizon. The dining area and the huge gorgeous viewing deck and boma area right below the pool offer up the same drool worthy views.

A short walk thru the beautifully landscaped paths brings you to your luxury suite, which is very spacious and has a viewing deck with endless sublime views of the shoreline, the lake and the horizon.

The property offers some epic game drives (we loved the night safaris) but the pièce de résistance are the water safaris on the lake. We took two water safaris, one in a speedboat, during which we went fishing and caught tons of yummy Bream and ending with a surprise bespoke beach picnic on a remote pink sand beach on one of the islands, and another on a floating barge boat for sundowners ending in some of the most stunning African sunsets. During the water safaris we saw, among other animals, elephants, hippos, buffalo and crocodiles along with myriad birds.

The food is home style cooking and the chef cooked the Bream fish we caught during our speedboat water safari and the service is warm and personalized. While the safaris are great the real draw here is the location and stunning views of the lake landscape and the water based activities on the lake. Its a perfect place to spend a few nights relaxing at the end of a safari tour of Zimbabwe. The Luxe Voyager

This was the 7th and final safari lodge of our trip. The location is stunning. Set above the shimmering expanse of Lake Kariba, this lodge is beautifully designed with many local artefacts, a pool, outdoor dining, shady trees and gardens. The rooms are luxurious each with balcony at tree top level. You can sit watching elephant and buffalo on the waters edge. All the staff are great. Our guide Godwin was outstanding. There are plenty of elephant, crocs, hippos and birds, big game not so much but as we had already been through Botswana we did not miss the big cats. Highly recommend this lodge. Watch out for baboons at breakfast or you may lose yours! Wifi in main lodge and terrace not in room.

Room tip: Rooms are accessed down stone stairs. Would not be wheelchair friendly

I visited Africa with my family of 4 for the first time, and we were completely blown away by Bumi Hills. From the incredible beauty of the surroundings, the view from every aspect of the property, the incredible diversity of wildlife on the game drives, water activities including fishing and sunset boat cruises, the spectacular food and service and the gorgeous accommodations the experience was 5-star plus! Not to mention an amazing staff who were all dedicated to making our experience the best one possible. Go here if visiting Africa you will create memories you will never forget.
